Test drove the Scirocco and fell in love with it. It's such a powerful car. The 1.4 engine makes 160 bhp and 240Nm of torque – that’s just 40Nm of torque less than the 2.0 liter TSI Scirocco. The DSG gearbox comes with 7 speed.
It's fun to drive and very agile.
The TSI 'Twincharger' engine uses both a supercharger and a turbocharger. The supercharger enhances performance at low revs, filling the void left while the turbo gets into its stride. This virtually eliminates turbo lag and gives the Scirocco a muscular feel throughout the rev range.

Heard lots of good things about this car but feel the price diff w golf is too big for same performance . For 20k extra the GTI looks like a better buy (list price). Scirocco wins on looks and rarity though.

I think it's the tax diff on coupe vs normal 4 door as it sells in similar bracket overseas.

I just learn something from a Sifu that prepare drift car compete along Tengku Jan, Japanese "hp" term is the engine power. Where else continental car 'hp" term is on the wheel. Example, Lancer GT engine produce hp is 155, so given 30% reduction, on the wheel hp should be about 108hp only. Scirocco 1.4 produce 160hp is on the wheel.

It depends on what you're looking for actually? If MK6, you pakai stock je la. But if Scirocco, you'll get the ABT version.

The warranty for VWs is 5 years unlimited mileage. Recommended service period is 15,000 km. Minor service is around RM450 to RM600 depending on what type of lubricant used. So, if you work out the arithmetics, it is still considered reasonable.The MK6 is about RM210K. So add on the frills and you'll get the price of the ABT MK6.

so far maintenance cost of gti is around RM600 for interval service. Major service i'm guessing should be around RM1k (includes cost of DSG oil). Kalau keter 1.4 mungkin kurang sikit kot sebab dry clutch unlike the MK6 GTI

Service centres obviously not as many as mitsubishi but mostly concentrated in Klang Valley

that's abt twice the cost of normal service for lgt...well it suited it performance which is twice more than lgt...hehehe...with power come more moneh...

The 1.4 liter TSI engine, which uses direct injection, turbo and supercharger produces 158 hp at 5800 rpm and 240 nm at 1500-4500 rpm. It comes with a dual-clutch DSG transmission 7 speed. The 1.4 TSI Scirocco is accelerates from 0-100 km / h in 8 seconds before reaching top speed of 220 km / h.

For comparison purpose, the Golf GTi and Scirocco 2.0-liter TSI with 207bhp and torque of 280 nm, only takes 6.9 seconds from 0-100 km / h and with a top speed of 238 km / h.

So in my opinion the 1.4 TSI is value for money.

1 of fan forumer here who also drive 1.4TSI golf did 228km/h shown on the digital meter few times B4...imagine if he's in stage 1 tuning...

In term of service let say 1.4TSI rm500 every 15K and major rm1000 on 60k, means
rm500 x 3(til 45k) = 1500 + 1000 (60k) = 2500 total paid until 60k service roughly.
remember 1.4 TSI using dry clucth gear box type which u dun hav to change for the DSG gear oil....

lancer rm350 every 10k and ard rm1000 on major 40k service where
rm350 x 3 (Til 30K) = 1050 , rm1000 at 40k and rm350 x 2 (til 60k sservice) = 700
total service paid until 60k = 1050 + 1000 + 700 = 2750

tis just a roughly calculation, but wif free service deal on lancer mmg berbaloi...
