Astro is revising some of its packages as it can no longer continue absorbing increases in content costs.

Effective 11 July 2011, new rates will be implemented for Astro Packages, Astro Subscription Rates and Add-Ons.
Astro customers may experience increases ranging from RM1 to RM15 per month.

To HD channel customer, it seems they want us to subscribe lump sum all channel package at RM125 or RM155.

Astro not govt agency. It's a private company.
If RTM, yes. & of course it's free.

Nobody in Pakatan Rakyat or BN force U to subscribe wt Astro.

m well awarof the fact that Astro is not a Govt agency....its just a matter of concern of whats the point of having whatever or whoever ruling party if they cant protect the interest or concerns of the rakyat..hence the matter here of increasing prices & passing the buck to consumers..so what else is new....

Ni alasan astro yg tamak je ni,
Paid cable TV sepatut nye tak tak de ganguan iklan, ni iklan pun depa balun charge, SMS dr penonton2 taksub AF , ML, RML lagi.

Sama je Astro dg BN dg isu minyak, time ada alasan nak naik kan harga , laju je , time keuntungan berlipat kali ganda, wat senyap jekk..

Skrg ni bukan kerajaan yg protect rakyat, rakyat yg byk protect kerajaan BN sebenar nye.

astro : not a govt agency... rules for astro to operate (including to allow the increase of fee) : govt...

last thing i heard issue concerning astro in parliment , was the complain by one member of govt on to much advertisement on astro...

lets hope this increment of fee issue will be debated in the parliment as well...(i'm trying my best to be nice...hehehe)

Dia ada ke competition? last2 kroni jugak yang untung. this guy who owns astro also owns maxis and he is a proxy to somebody famous. and this guy does not even live here. no need for me to mention here lar. sorry khushairy bukan nak gaduh ngan you, this is my pure sentiment only.

besides, private entity pun dia makan duit taxpayers jugak. sejak govt announce budget 2011 last year, govt impose 6 percent service tax for astro and other private companies. so policy siapa ni?

Like as if any of that's gonna happen...I am just merely saying that the Govt should intervene & STOP all these constant price hikes..these guys at Astro know they are the only cable TV providers here & just exploiting & taking advantage of its consumers....& making all kinda baseless excuses to justify their actions...with no improvements on top of that with crap reruns day in..day out....

Last2 Astro naikkan harga juga walaupun didenda kerajaan dan masalah kenaikan didengar di parlimen.

Semalam aku subscribe astro super pack RM125/month.
OK juga sebenarnya boleh tgk hampir semua channel, boleh jimat duit.
(Jimat duit utk sesiapa yg subscibe HD & suka tgk bola)

Cuma terpaksa bayar another RM150 (after discount 50%) to upgrade from normal byond to byond pvr decoder. (optional)
U can still using normal byond if u have external hard disk to record.
Cuma bezanya external limit to 320Gig while PVR limit to 500Gig.
Another is normal can only watch/ record one channel at same time while PVR can record 2 channels simultaneously.

tu harga pengenalan je...pas dah ramai masuk adala nanti yuran2 yang nak kena bayar...taktik pancing penonton berbayar...telepon aku 2-3 kali suruh upgrade...tapi aku wat bodo je...

so to get PVR is add 150 one off?

now mine HD with sports n 1 mini is also RM101..........thinking of superpack at 155........but maybe forego it as sign of protest LOL

mine onli RM94++ after the increment charges...wtf...even dare to send letter telling that they will increase the charges...for me, as sign of protest will remove astro dish from me home...i can live without it...been living without astro for decades...now only put astro...then come this all stupid charges increment...

Yup RM150 is one off.
It's cheaper compare to buy external astro hard disk which around RM200+.

I agree wt anyone who want to protest.

However anyone like me who had to pay new price which higher for old package (RM120++) better add little to get super pack, no choice.

It's only around RM1.40-1.60 per channel wt super pack.
If I subscribe any package with HD+sport+mini, I will end up pay RM2.50+ per channel (double pay but get less). Some more cant record.
Accounting wise it's a loss.

mine wif new rate should be rm101...then suerppack wif chinese shows is 155 without tax

diff is about rm65 per moons with tax included...so to me i still stick to old one...coz not much time for the extra 50 channels i will get

mine take the basic one only plus animax, rm 55/monthly, worth it i think, coz i luv history, animax and SWR channel much hehehehe

Well, After Astro kena saman dan didenda oleh kerajaan kerana bad service especially when it rain & increase their price wtout concern.
What they do to counter it?

They now introduce new "Byond IPTV" package.
With this package no more interruption from rain.
Why?
No more using satellite dish. They will use fibre optic cable/ internet connection.
They also will provide Byond+PVR+internet+phone call. All in one wt one package.
The system will support up to 100Mbps connection with unlimited broadband internet connection from 3 Mbps up to 24Mbps.
Bcoz it will use internet. No need to pay 6% govt tax (exempted). Good new is it.

How much it cost? Top up another RM128 to RM298 on yr current basic Astro package (depend how fast U want for internet connection)
Decoder etc (that cost Rm3000, that what they say la) is free.
Byond HD+PVR service also free.

Bad news: Currently only available in KL and Penang.
Klang Valley akan datang- end of this yr.

PS: Siapa yg dah subscribe streamyx + Astro lebih untung la sebab bayaran bulanan sama but get more value. Then boleh jimat duit xperlu bayar utk byond HD+ PVR+ tax.
Siapa yg guna token broadband maxis/celcom mcm aku nie xguna sgt la tukar pakej.. Mahal tu. Buat apa nak byr RM128 utk internat kalau bayar sekarang cuma RM38-68 sebulan.
My 7.2Mbps internet connection & 3Gig download limit bulanan pun lebih dr cukup.
