Front looks like the current gen Vios. It's been like this oso for both models' previous gen, one looking like the other 'cept that this time current-gen Vios came out first.
Previous Altis was good car however.

better buy GLS la :)
but.. with Toyota, you will never afraid can't find spare parts or cheaper replacement OEM parts.
already 800 bookings so far. After today, booking should be doubled :)

The 1.8G Sport should have black interior same like VIOS 1.5S
If not, the aerokits seems not suitable for this type of car.

Very ex for the highest spec 1.8G, RM118,000. Comes with VSA though but no leather seats! Previous Altis comes with it, looks like a cost down from Toyota. you want body kit extra RM2,300.
They didn't even bring in the new Dual VVTi engine which is inside the Thai version Altis, same engine and gear box (only 4 speed). Only outlook and shape change. Comes with Electric Power Steering now though.
Not worth the price, Honda Civic's 1.8 still a better buy, only cost RM113,800 and comes with 5 speed auto.

went to the showroom this morning and checked out the altis oredi. Look so so only but the price damn expensive. I think the GLS is a much much better buy if you compare the price and spec and interior. Some more GLS is 2.0 and Altis is only 1.8
I shoot some photo of the dashboard...
the passenger compartment has 2 opening... booked a test drive with them though just to try out the feel.

they have only 1 car there. Waiting for a few more for test unit it seems. To me if you look at the price, it is very expensive. GLS 2.0 is RM114k. Interior like not so impressive ....

me too went to the showroom in ttdi after my lunch...
the rear is so so... kinda like facelift from the old model. the front is like an under-sized camry + oversized vios...
and yes, i think it's expensive. no test drive available because there's only 1 unit.
verdict? i'd rather spend that money on GLS and still have some changes to mod it...

The GTs are so much more worth it, with specifications superior to those in the Altis. Toyota and Honda dare to hike their price due to the household brand they own.

while the altis is pretty pricey, it does come with something that our lancers lack...
it has vsc, which some ppl like and some don't.
it comes with full size, alloy rim spare tyre.
but still, it's butt ugly. and our lancers have more leg room...

arrr... to be fair to new Altis, there are good points also la. It's a quiet car, very smooth. I test drove it yesterday. Many people placed bookings on the spot. As of yesterady, already 1000+ bookings country wide (800+ before launching).
Production allocations is 800 cars per month (as compared to 40 GTs per month ?? :))

Guy/Girls,
You are now witnessing the end of TOYOTA Malaysia. It has started with the Innova, Rush, Vios, and now this Altis.
Sales are bad. If not for the AP hold up with the Camry, nobody would be buying Camry.
Toyota's cars have gotten expensive, lack accessories and boring. Not to mention that they are trying to play market segmentation (discrimination demand) with E, G and S crap. If you only had one spec, you are forced to sell at a price, usually at a compromise, in reality lower. You play discrimination, you can sell at a higher price which means more profits and more crap being thrown in.

Death of Toyota? I hardly think so. Judging from the mindset of all levels of society (from grandfather, to father, to son) Toyota is a trusted and time proven brand. This explains why the pre-booking of the car is so spectacular. Toyota + Corolla = double edged knife, when it comes to branding; You know you are buying a reliable car from a reliable brand.
If it weren't for Proton, Mitsubishi would be on par with Honda and Toyota. Just look at Singapore and you'll see. But it was a win-win situation as Mitsubishi benefited greatly from the royalties of producing 10yr old Mitsu models. But now they've an uphill battle to resume. The biggest hurdle is to convince buyers that they are being backed by a widespread and competent after-sales force as well as parts supply.

Even in Singapore Honda and Toyotas are considered the better brands. The Mitsus are plenty because they are cheaper,....at least relatively (the GT high specs is slightly more than the Civic). Imagine the power of branding.
Mitsu has successfully branded itself as the Rally car producer. Sedans? I think the Toyota gets this title.

Toyota is now no1 in the world. They dont get there by creating products that are not attractive to customers.
They target a different type of market segment and do it well. Want a pleasant looking car with reliable mechanicals and rock solid residuals? Dont want to pay the exorbitant costs of continental ownership?
Hey the new Camry is pretty decent looking too.
Still cant get used to the orange tinged "wood" and beige only interiors though. And yes, some of their cars are starting to look too much alike.
The most exciting product that they had made in recent times were Supras and the nicest looking was the current Celica.
They've also managed to take on the German Luxo boys with Lexus - the IS250 is one cool lookin car.
Their Altis line doesnt really suit me but I'm sure it will sell like hotcakes.

I know there is one member here drop the Lancer booking and go for the new Altis... he keep on mention to me it is a good buy although I told him 4-speed Auto Transmission is a very old technology..... The waiting period for the new Altis is about 3-4 months and he told me he is already no.800+ on the booking list!
Sigh, I wondering if he go for Civic 1.8, at least it is still looks better than the new Altis.

GLS without insurance is RM111K
Altis 1.8E without insurance is RM107K
Advantage is Altis slightly cheaper, and in future, easy to sell to upgrade (to EVO?)

Expected 145K for 2.0 (no paddle shift)
175K for 2.4 (this one with paddle shift, first time in Accord)
If these price is true (given by SA), then again, the price has shoot up a lot more than before.
