My history quite short and simple compared to all you guys..hehe
First Car: 3rd Gen Lancer 1.5M Sedan re badged as Iswara bought in 1998
Second Car: 9th Gen Lancer GT 2.0 in 2007

From the Iswara to the GT, i would say its a big step, though not as big as princess' step. Hopefully the GT will treat me well like my Iswara who will eventually be given to my mom once I get it repaired and patch up.

Yo, it's my turn...
My first car is my 21 years old birthday gift from my dearest mummy - Proton Wira Aeroback 1.3 (M) EFi, white, Year 2000
Love it very much, use to drive it to college everday. Nothing much on modding, except some cheap quality fiber bodykit and the 15" blink blink sport rim from BSA if I am not mistaken, running on Bridgestone Potenza rubbers.
My 1st car - Wira A/B 1.3

My second car is the 7th Generation Honda Civic 1.7 VTEC (A), silver, Year 2002. Many people said Honda Civic ES is the worst ever Civic produced, but for me and all my other buddies, it is a good car, good fuel consumption, good power, low maintenance car. For myself, I can only blame the time for my age to reach this generation of Civic is not correct, if I am few more years younger by now, I will have chance owned the current Civic FD. Someone is telling me before, the car reflect your age, almost all youngster in between teenager age usually will go for Civic 1st before proceed to something better... I'm old jor... haha...Anyway, I still love it very much but has to replace it with the new Lancer GT (perharps) since the age of the car is getting old!!! This is where my xtreme crazy interest on car begin...

Opps... I forgot the modded lists....
- Honda D17A SOHC VTEC 1668cc
- Custom DuPont 2K Honda Championship White bodyworks
- RacingArt Studio Body Decals
- Mugen front lip, RS grill and RX2 rear lip
- Original RS spoiler from JDM Civic RS
- K&N Drop in air filter
- Full grounding kit by Splitfire
- Pivot Voltage Stablizer
- Denson Iridium Spark Plugs
- Custom muffler from RS Motorsport with M3 look tip
- De-catalyzer
- 17' Lightweight Alloy Sport Rim with 215/45/R17 Continental CSC Rubbers
- Eibach lowering coil spring
- Facelift rear crystal light
- Angel Eye Projector Headlamp
- KDG 8000K Xenon HID from Korea
- Max 2000 Professional Strobe Light
- RS EL Illuminator Meter
- Zenden front alloy strut bar
haha.... I hope I didn't miss out any....
Wah your current ride heavily modded. You gonna be the frontrunner in super modding the GT? :P

Yo bro...
I spent RM2.2k on the championship white bodyworks at my buddy workshop which is near to the Nappa Leather Seat factory in Kepong. Actually, re-painting the whole car really need a trustable workshop... I choose my buddy because I know him and the place is near to my house... I can go to see my ride everyday and check is there any damages on my ride during the works... Checked with JPJ and they said not a big issue, can wait until the next transaction with JPJ like transfer of ownership or something only paid JPJ RM30 to endorse it... Simple procedure, not like transplant a new engine in a car.
You should checked with your regular workshop before sending your ride for re-paint...
Just my 2 cents...

Wah lau, dcspeed,
You shall be my walking encyclopedia on "how to modify a car"...must learn from you.
By the way, i though that Civic 2002 was powered by a CVT engine, that's why the perceived power loss?
Oh yes, may be not teenage lah to own a civic? That one sure pharma sponsorship one. People like us who work for donkey years only manage to buy this type of car loh....:)

Yo bro!!!
For your info, local Civic ES (year 2001 - 2005) model from 1.7 Vtec till 2.0 iVTEC only come with normal 4-speeds and 5-speeds automatic transmission respectively.
The CVT automatic transmission Civic that you mentioned is the imported model bring in by NAZA motor during year 2001 - 2003. NAZA is selling RM160k and the model is called Civic RS which is a Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) Civic. Comes with CVT auto tranny, sunroof, 4 disc brakes, full RS bodykit, more hp engine and etc....... Our local honda dealer always bring in low end model... same like others car manufacturers... sigh...
For my case, my mum sponsored my civic lar...... pharma did't sponsor any to me.... hehe....unless you are from a multi-national pharma company, my friend is driving the BMW E46 325i company car mar....... always whacked the car, service go to Auto Bavaria lor... coz company bill mar.... hehe......
cheers...

QUOTE(princess @ Sep 29 2007, 12:28 AM)

after reading about everyone's view on their new and old cars it intrigue me to share about my current car (still haven't gotten my GT yet)
I drive a.....
Kancil 850EX- 847cc three-cylinder carburetor in-line engine, 37 hp (27.5 kW), five-speed manual transmission, body-color bumpers and rub strips
It's chick, small and very agile especially in traffic jams. Comes with power windows (only for the front passenger and driver), electric powered side mirrors and organized dashboard. (at least has cup holders, iswara don't even have that)
If my tires go bald I can change 4 tires for the price of one (One tire for the GT costs approx. RM400 which is the price for 4 tires for the kancil)
Compact boot space, avoids me from running away from hubby coz i can't take everything i need.
Can drive down to penang with one full tank without refueling half way! Only cost me RM40 per trip.
Easy to park, fuel economy now my air-con died so even better fuel economy. Can just service the car for just RM58 at Eunos.
We have and will continue to have fun times together, forever.
Tried to trade in the car in so many occasions but was never able to do it. It's like we were meant to be together. Even though at one point all four of my doors were jammed and i had to get into the car through the boot. (I couldn't open the doors from outside and they were only accessible from inside) A hidden security feature in the car that doesn't come with the GT.
Been with me for 7 long years, never failed on me, never disappointed me, knows a lot about me.
Now i'm getting a very intimidating car afraid my kancil will think i've found a replacement.
No matter how well the GT is going to perform nothing beats the love the kancil has given me. She'll be my favourite, my one and only (well of course my dog and hubby comes first). In these years my kancil has protected us on every ride we have gone together.
*sigh*

my story...
1. Wira 1.5 Carb - sold it since it is sooo slow :P
2. honda integra 91 with b16a. Got 160hp, good enuff for me, keep it till today in miri.
3. Perdana V6 - took over from my father, kept it in KL. A good long distance car, comfortable enuff for me but cannot tahan the fuel consumption, so dont drive it most of the time.
4. LGT came out, fell in love on first sight and decided to sell the v6.
Booked the red LGT and now patiently waiting for it.
But now not sure what to do with the integra, got AP issue, since i dont have it, friends say cannot sell. Any idea guys? If i have no choice, keep it until turn to besi buruk, or give it to my grandchildren...

1. Proton iswara ( WDN 559 ) 1998 to 2000- Change from 1.3 to 1.5
2. Wira Saloon ( BFX 7700 ) 2000 to 2002 - Change from 1.5 to 1.8 GSR turbo
3. Perdana SEI ( ACY 531 ) 2002 - Change body part to completed mitsubishi eterna
4. Mazda Baby merc with B8 turbo 2002 to 2004
5. Mazda Lantis Saloon with B8 turbo ( WFV 3929 ) 2004 to 2007
6. Mitsubishi Lancer GT ( TAQ 7700 )
To be honest, compare to my previous car lancer GT was lack of power but comfortable. My lantis can easy hit 220 km/j with 207hp on wheel
but this GT only hit 198 km/j with 155hp on paper. I will run this car on dyno and perhaps the hp for this car was right or at least close to 155hp.
Anyway, I believed that this car have a potential to gaining more hp by making minor adjustment or by replacing high performance stuff.

Welcome to the club bro,
Comparing the GT to yur previous turbo ride, of coz a huge difference la, 207hp to 155hp (which is much lover on wheels) nothing to compare there.
Top speed of the GT should b around 210-220kn/h, so, i guess, not bad also for a 155hp car
Hope u put up yur mods at the engine thread, so tat we can look into it as well.

this thread has been interesting - kept telling myself will post once official - my history is a bit varied -
owned rides:
my first ride was a Suzuki TXR150 aka Panther - this machine was seriously fast. 0-160kmh in very very short time.
I remember taking it out for rides with no destination in mind - just exploring the countryside.
Mitsubishi lancer 1977 (1991-2000) - even learnt my driving in this car and inherited this from my dad (it was his first car too). this car was fun to drive and if I remember correctly it was one of the earlier rear wheel drive variants (I remember it was a pretty decent corner carver as it had good balance).
Wira Aeroback 1.6XLI(M) Millenium edition (2000-2007). This car came in the then new colour of metallic Lake Green which looked cool esp. at night. It even had the GTI look gear shifter and console (which I really liked). It was a decent drive with all round disc brakes and front and rear anti roll bars, 1.6 16 valve engine. After overcoming some initial quality issues (minor) and after running in I started using MMC oil filters, fully synthetic engine oil, aftermarket brake pads, Bosch DOT4 brake fluid and Monroe absorbers. Also best to use Synthetic gearbox lubricants for smoother gear shifts. The 4G engine and the 5 speed manual gearbox was an excellent combo to make full use of the power spread in this car and give you good control in the corners.
Next car is obviously the Lancer GT - which I am enjoying as my daily drive. I had shopped around for quite a bit before deciding on the lancer. As you can see my previous cars were manual drives and a regular auto was not too favoured. Considered E46, Mazda6, Focus 2.0, Civic 2.0, celica 1.8 but didnt fall in "louve" until test drove the Lancer.
Come to think of it, I've owned only Mitsubishi or Mitsubishi derived cars only.
Thanks to family and friends, I've also had the chance to extensively drive the following cars in various countries:
- Ford Falcon 4.0 (theres a lot of torque there - got caught speeding in Australia - they're very strict there)
- Honda Civic EH Si1.6 (M) (egg shaped - fun hatch)
- Toyota Celica (4 eyes - t200) and Pop up lights model (t180) (both previous WRC models and nice designs)
- Toyota Camry 2.2 GX (comfortable and quiet and great fuel economy on highway)
- Mercedes Benz E200K W210 (its a benz with rock solid continental feel and has well thought out features)
- Honda Prelude 2.0 with pop up lights and 2.3Si (4WS- the one before last model - rocking cars with good handling)
- Proton Saga (1.5I) (Reliable car and - rusts easily at certain spots though)
- Proton Wira (1.5A) (Generally reliable, easy to get parts & to service, no complexs electronics or computers).
- Ford Mondeo (1.8M) (Model before Bond one - Great handler with comfortable ride and plenty of space).

ElDiablo,
Hey..I started off with the Suzuki TXR150 too back in 87.
My story pulak. I had a lots of bikes then. I only had a car from 2000 onwards.
1987 to 1991 (my ITM/Rempit days)
Suzuki TXR 150 (brand new)
Suzuki RG125 (2nd hand)
Suzuki RG250 (2nd hand)
I like Suzukis. Influenced by Kevin Schwantz back then.
When I started working :
1991 to 1992 Suzuki RGV250 (brand new)
Left for States to do Masters
1992 to 1993 Honda CBR900RR Fireblade (mata bulat). Also 2nd hand. Brought the bike to M'sia.
Tapaued the bike in 94 at Batu 3 (track day). Total write off. Bought Ducati 600SS from insurance money. Modded it from 54HP until max 73 (equivalent to a std 900SS). Sold it off in 2002.
Bought/shared a Ducati 916 with a friend in 1999 for track use. Modded it until SPS version. Sold my portion to the friend in 2003.
2000- 2004 Wira provided by office. Stock..cannot modify.
2001- 2004 Honda Integra DB8 (2 stage VTEC), the 4 doors cousin to DC2. Simota air filters, Tanabe exhaust, Koni adjustables.
2004 to Feb 2008 Merc C200 W202 Good and reliable. Not much can be done to mod it. Running costs were getting high.
