Lancer GT Club of Malaysia Soft Launched

PETALING JAYA - Oct 20, 2007 - It looked like rain last Saturday morning but that didn't dampened the spirits of the members of the recently formed Lancer GT Club of Malaysia who were busy setting up for their club's soft launch. Moving at a tremendous pace, the club somehow managed to recruit more than 60 owners of the newly launched Mitsubishi Lancer GT around Malaysia, prepare the merchandise and set up a soft launch all within 2 months of the club's founding.

Slowly but surely members with the new Mitsubishi Lancer GT started appearing. Most came alone but a few came with their families which brighten up the event even more. With the guidance of the club's Event Manager, Mr. Benjamin Woo, members from down South made it to the event without a hitch. Soon there were 11 of the Fantastic Sports Machine parked side by side shimmering under the cloudy morning sun. With the banner securely up in the central parking lot in Aman Suria, new members were registering and choosing their t-shirt sizes while current members checked out each other car mods.

The weather held and with the arrivals of members of the press, the committee started moving the cars into positions for the club's photo shoot session. Directing the cars to an aggressive V shaped formation was the club's own President, Mr. Tana Terence while being assisted by the VP and Club Photographer, Mr. Desmond Tong. Once the formation of 11 GTs were completed, all members including the busy committee members stood proudly while holding the club's banner for the photo shoot which lasted about 15 minutes.

Adjourning to the nearby restaurant for brunch, the club's president gave his welcoming speech and firmly assured all members that the club is a non-profitable organization and is here to stay to provide a good platform for future generations of Lancer to grow and regain the legacy that have been lost since roughly 20 years ago. He also stated that Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia should be more transparent to its customers and let them know the real reason of the delay of many GTs to their respective owners.

Anyone owners or fans who wishes to join the club can visit our website at www.lancergtclub.com or email us at iwanttojoin@lancergtclub.com.

About Mitsubishi Lancer GT
The recently launched Mitsubishi Lancer GT 2.0 is the 9th generation from a long line of Lancers. Not always being associated with its bigger brother, the Evolution series, this new Lancer’s DNA seems to have been taken directly from the Evolution. With its aggressive styling and macho looks similar to the latest Evo X, no wonder it’s been the new darling of the local motor industry. By setting an unprecedented record in number of bookings (1000+ to date) for a car in its class, the local distributor has had a tough time supplying the car to dealers around the country. With the initial batch of 400 units quickly grabbed up by customers within days, current shipment delays may have created a dent in Mitsubishi’s armor. However loyal Mitsubishi fans have been steadfast in patiently waiting for the arrival of their hot GTs.

About Lancer GT Club of Malaysia
The objective of the Lancer GT Club of Malaysia or LGTC for short is to bridge the communication gap of between all Lancer GT enthusiasts and to be a primary resource center for the newly launched car. The club is also trying to create awareness to the public and promote the automotive industry & motorsports in Malaysia.

LGTC was actually founded by Tana Terence on the 26th of August 2007 after noticing many members from various online forums lacking a proper place to discuss the newly launched Mitsubishi Lancer GT. It was first started off as a Google group but since the lack of support from members for such a group, it was moved to a free forum based site under freeforums.org.

Here the forum grew unexpectedly from just a mere handful to dozens of members within just a few days of its creation to the bewilderment of its founder. However due to the restricted nature of freeforums.org, it was soon apparent that a move to its own server was necessary. And so on the 19th of September 2007, LGTC official moved under the banner of LancerZone which was fully sponsored by Mr. Vijandren Ramadass, one of the club's own member. It was also this time that the club settled on the current name and acquired the domain name: lancergtclub.com.

With over 160+ registered members in barely just 2 months and coupled with the fact that the Mitsubishi Lancer GT is as hot as a car can ever get what with the waiting period up to 9 months; the club's future success is firmly assured. The club welcomes everyone who is a fan of the latest 9th generation Lancer and hopes that owners of the GT and the rumored soon to be launched GS to become its member to take advantage of all the benefits the club has to offer.

I have already sent the press kit to Hypertune and OnTheRoad Mag and now waiting for their confirmation on the date of release. This might take some time because they need to proof read and make the necessary adjustment to the press kit that we sent in.

Having said that, I will keep in touch with them and inform you guys once i ahve the latest updates from them. I will also send in to The Star by this week. Just to inform you guys that the motoring section for The Star will only come out once every two weeks.
