Regarding vulgar words :
Can type "fxxk"? Surely cannot, because it's still a vulgar word no matter how you spell it, we still read it as "f***k"... allowing it would be like saying it's okay to commit a crime as long as you wear a mask.
What about Chinese vulgar words expressed here, like "tiu", "knn", "nia seng", etc. Vulgar words also.
Seeking clarification and consistency.

Still awaiting clarification.
Yesterday, I received 2 warnings (I'm at 20% now) for a post of mine (consisting of vulgar words) posted
2 weeks ago. Shouldn't members that posted vulgar words (whether English or Chinese or Russian) since the start of the forum be warned also?
The particular clause in the T&C regarding usage of vulgar words does not state if any reason should be given by anyone (by the poster, by the forum admins) for the cause/reason for the use of vulgar words; that clause is absolute i.e. cannot use vulgar words
at all. Here it is :
QUOTE
Action: Using profanities or vulgarities, as determined according to discretion of a member of the moderating team
Result: A warning is issued for the first offence, and suspensions for multiple offences.
Again, seeking clarification and consistency.

Please refer to this thread
http://forum.lancerzone.com/index.php?showtopic=3634 warnings was reset on the 31st of October 2008. Therefore, everyone's warning meter went back to zero.
If an offence is reported in actions will be taken. If you would like to report about someone that used a vulgar word by all means use the report function.

Let the system do the work la...
If it detects "banned" words in english, all types of chinese/bahasa/indian words and its related dialects, then it auto censors it with ******. Banned does not necessary need to be vulgar or offensive. It could include other words.
This is possible to do when we have colourful members here who are able to provide the "banned dictionary".

Is that our system really that advance which can detect "banned" word?
Theoritically that is brilliant idea, but practically still a question. How your highness? can do that?

Nov 18 2008, 03:53 PM
Autoworld been doing this for so many years with their archiac board, plus Invision board is so much more advanced that autoworld would be using the Invision board (in collaboration with lowyat.net). You could also do this with phpBB boards too.
p.s. I do not indulge myself with theory, in the forum, in real life and in my work.

I know a lot website using that kind of system. But can our system provide that too, princess?
princess
Nov 18 2008, 05:55 PM
Yes it can be done. Just because the system censors the words it doesn't warrant the members to freely use profanities as they please.
Again, giving warnings and suspension is under the moderator's discretion. If there are reports submitted by members and members are offended actions will be taken.

I agree with you her royal highness. Forgive me if I make mistake...

The system does actually auto-change certain words (as determined/set by the admins). For instance, in my first post in this thread, I'd actually typed the word "f u c k" (w/o the spaces) and it is automatically changed to "f***k".
However, if you type a word like "f u c k ing", the system does not detect it (due to the additional "-ing" part).
The Admin has told me even voluntary masking of vulgar words by a poster is not tolerated eg. you cannot type "fxxk", since it is still read as a vulgar word. If this is the case, please increase the warning level for my brother dcspeed, since he very recently typed the word "fxxk" in a thread. Don't ask me to point out his specific post; I got 2 bar warning for a post of mine posted 2 weeks ago in a section reserved for Senior and Elite Members (i.e. the Special Discussion section), not in public forum sections... so if the example set by warning me is about improving this forum (and not specific targetting of members), then the Admin should take the time to search for that particularly offensive word utterred/posted by dcspeed and increase his warn level.
This is about improving the forum, right?
In any case...
Admin, you have not answered my question about usage of vulgar Chinese words here (i.e. "tiu", "knn", "nia seng", "c***t", etc). They are vulgar words and is understood to be so by the Chinese community here (esp. to the Chinese ladies).
I'm looking/asking for consistency here.

If you want to report on dcspeed because of his language please do it so by using the Report button on that particular thread.
There are moderators assigned to most of the forums here and as mentioned if the words used does not offend anyone and no reports has been made it is the moderators discretion to take action. This goes for Chinese or English or Malay languages.
The warning meters are only visible to Admins, Moderators and the member him/herself nobody else is able to see it.

Thank you.
It's pretty clear to me and a few other very senior members what's happening here.
Never mind, please continue administering this forum the way The Admin see fit. May LGTC continue to improve.

Reverend,
I read and amended dcspeed's post, all he meant was the car was damn cun. He didn't offend anyone by using vulgar words.
You on the other hand deliberately offended the President's clarification of what is Club is Club, Forum is Forum. You didn't use the word not just once but multiple times. You did not only directly offended one person but several.
Further discussion as to why you are given a warning and others isn't will not be discussed in this thread, as it's already gone way off topic.

Aiya, people a...when we speed on the highway at 250km in a 110km zone and get stopped by policeman, do we tell policeman that the Porche in front went past at 300km and the Celica behind is doing 200km and so, we protest furiously they should be saman-ed as well? Do we jump up and down, stamp our feet and demand that the policeman chase after the other 2 speedsters before we can be samaned?
And does it matter if the saman was posted to us, like 3 months after the offence was committed?
No, right? We still go and settle the saman meekly...
We who broke the law should bear the consequences.
Same here lor.
