KUALA LUMPUR: From Jan 1, PLUS and ELITE highway users will enjoy a 10% discount on toll rates between midnight and 7am.

For instance, those who are travelling from the Jalan Duta toll plaza to the Ipoh Selatan toll plaza will only pay RM23.80 compared to the current rate of RM26.50.

The discount is part of the PLUS Travel Incentive programme introduced by PLUS Expressways Berhad (PLUS) at the Works Ministry here on Tuesday.

According to PLUS managing director Noorizah Abd Hamid, the second incentive is an additional 10% toll discount between midnight and 7am on select six days during festive seasons such as Hari Raya, Chinese New Year, Deepavali and Christmas. The actual dates will be announced by PLUS prior to each festive season.

“This means a single way journey from the Jalan Duta toll plaza to the Ipoh Selatan toll plaza will cost users RM21.40 compared to the RM26.50,” she said.

The third incentive is called PLUS Loyalty Programme. Touch ‘n Go and SmartTag users who spend a minimum of RM200 monthly will enjoy a 5% rebate for their usage on PLUS and Elite highways.

The first and second incentive apply to Class 1 vehicles beginning Jan 1 to Dec 31, 2010.

Meanwhile, the Loyalty Programme is an ongoing programme to encourage the public to migrate to the electronic toll payment system from Jan 1.

Works Minister Datuk Mohd Zin Mohamed, Deputy Secretary-General (Development) of the Works Ministry Datuk Dr Abdul Munit Kasmin and Malaysian Highway Authority director-general Datuk Mohamad Razali Othman were present at the event.

if want to save money...have to travel after midnight.....not safe la for ladies...

Good incentive program, but how many will use PLUS between 12 a.m till 7 a.m? Or is it better to just reduce the toll fare???

even during bright daylight also not safe nowadays...just bring some companion along side...or just ask for convoy...we'll be glad to assist...hehehehehe...

12-7am? The time taken is the time we take the ticket or the time we pay the ticket?

If time we pay, sure at 6:30 am everybody drive like hell to reach toll before 7 am.

my touch n go also does not reach RM200 per month..

my touch and go everymonth reach nearly 400 MYR...can get lil' benefit from those promotion...

Aiyah, whatever it is, it is not enough... This buggers make so much money and somore got goverment subsidy.. Now they offer us some small discounts to shut our mouths up... Morever, the timing is weird..

I want them to abolish the tolls, they already make enough money that benifit a few jokers..

Luckily in 2008 I live in a city witout any hefty toll...
Last year and year b4 that I live in land of hell.. Everything about money.. I save thousands ringgit a year, that will use for my mod..

PS: If they want people ride at nite, they must put light on PLUS highway like nite F1 race in S'pore for safety purpose..

what toll can possibly be there in sarawak? logging toll i think got laaa...

i read that the discount is based on your exit time. meaning you can get on to PLUS at 11pm and exit at 1am and enjoy the discount.

soon we will see a lot of vehicles lining up just before toll at 11:50pm.

hehehehe...what for..just sleep at the rest area got hotel what at the rawang rest area...then go to work...lalalalala

at 11pm to 12am highway jam everybody drive slow and don't want to exit......

I can imagine during festive season, ready guys u'll be xpriencng a jammed hway at night...

If u guys havent noticed, this 10% discount will be effective on Jan 09.
Which is the date of 10% hike on PLUS highway....

so that's mean we will be paying the current tolls rate for the so-called "of-peak hours"
