Terence, you should know what I'm talking about. What are your thoughts on having such a feature? "Vote posting" as well as "member cred".

Vote for a good post, which then adds to the poster's "cred", both of which should be visibly displayed.

A lotta websites also displays "negative voting"... but I'm not sure about this. After all, we already have the existing "warning system" :)

Just a thought on a lazy Sunday :)

hmm.... this would enable ppl to tell the TCSS from the "proper" contributors....

It depends on how the Admins here want to do it (IF they want to do it). Quality TCSS posts also can get a vote... TCSS contributors also help this forum grow, correct? :) I mean, the AG had a "TCSS King/Queen" award which means TCSS matters in this forum :)

IOW, is it possible to have a voting system whereby a positve or negative vote for "TCSS post" carries less weight than a "car related post"? I mean, if this is what the admins want for this "car forum" if they are willing to consider such a system, that is.

I don't think this is merely a "car forum"... it's more like a "friends forum" that somehow masquerades as a car forum :) So care needs to given if such a system is to be considered and implemented. I think if implemented correctly and properly, it could prove to be useful to certain folks here that browse this forum for different and specific purposes.

I dunno... just a suggestion. Could be too much work for the admins...

lets have a look at the current recognition of contributors. Some are forum specific and some club specific but most commonly its a mix of the two:
- military style # post ranking
- fan/owner/member/elite member
- committee ranking

Most members from reading postings would be able to tell who's a credible poster in a very short time.

if you are amongst friends or members (as referred to "friends forum") - you wouldnt need a credibility ranking amongst friends right?

Seriously though, sometimes even the more experienced make mistakes/are mis-informed.

i'm regular @ forum cari.com.my... there they use "credits" for a good post awarded from admin/mods... for the good posts ...

i was actually looking for a good cred system, but have yet to find one which fits our purpose...

anyway will update when i find it.

for eg, i rep +ve for marcus7 for his finding of the ASA Mitsu part catalog software... its a very good find
