pls do not abuse the rep system, and only give the rep to really deserving posts by members..

for eg,

i rep +ve for marcus7 for his finding of the ASA Mitsu part catalog software in the DIY & resource section... its a very good find

or u guys can rep Johnson Lam every time he comes up with some amazing DIY...

Can rep for past posts (i.e. dated before today) or not? Better not lo...

What's the relevancy of this Reputation System?

me also wondering the relevancy for us.
If the website which deal so much on trading buying or selling, yes..the reputation of the seller needed..but for social car forum..ermmm

maybe this will encourage people to post non nonsense thread or posting.

Anyway thumb up to terion, good effort and well coded and nice designed tool u develop bro.. surely this can be add up on your resume.

the reputation system (if used correctly) is a way to gauge members contribution to the forum and club.

remember this reps is given by members, in a way its sort of like an appreciation u give to those members that have help u b4.

eg. By posting something that helped u solve ur problem.

When a topic is of a serious nature (i.e. car/technical stuff), I have always tried to provide on-topic posts, maybe sometimes with some TCSS mixed in. If this forum becomes all-too-serious, no fun anymore lo...

From what I have seen, this Rep System has become a Buddy System, rather than a Post-Specific System. And, yes, I have been guilty of that a bit.

Terence, I'd suggested (or I think I did) that this system be implemented on a post-specific basis, instead of a "buddy system". I.e. only give rep for a post, regardless of who made the post or if anyone is buddy with the poster. Boleh mod ini existing system ka? Good idea or not?

And I get a neg rep by a committee member simply for posting my POV regarding my concerns/reservations about the membership registration number bidding thingy.

Apparently we cannot provide our own POVs.

as u may or may not have noticed, the rep system have been taken offline indefinitely due to many that have used it (as Rev put it), a buddy system.

Since the rep system is usually not moderated, it has a flaw whereby multiple reps are allowed, and this was recently fully taken advantage of.

Although its sad that members that do deserve the rep will no longer have them, a new system which hopefully be more fool proof is being planned in the near future.

i got 16 reps before.... all has been removed since the repping system no more in the forum.... :(( sadd....

Whether the rep system is good or bad, its up to one's interpretation and how we treat and use the system. If we are not supportive of the system, the simplest way is to not give any reps to anyone and just let it be. And vice versa, if the person finds it good and beneficial, he will use it with all the good intentions he believes the system can bring. And it definately was not intended to be used as a tool for displinary measures. Only when one abuses the system then trouble follows.

As with any system there are bound to be weaknesses and strength....and I still believe with good usage, it is a good pointer to an individual's level of "helpfullness" within this forum.

SC999, Tango, Johnson Lam and many others.....even the rep system is no more to be seen....you guys still rocks.

if u realy want name, i suggest u to put big poison on ur car. put hot poison on ur car ie VTTR BBK, Unichip or X-Hood (promote my WTS ) and many. This club welcome hard modder to sharing info for benefit together, thats more important.

Committee or even Admin/Mod are working for FREE for benefit of all Club members and forumers. so pls understand..

Avoid confrontation and if we can solve problem by talking to the person ..heart to heart..man to man..it will be much better.

My share of thoughts on the reputation system.....

Personally i do utilize the reputation system to the point it was taken offline...
And i had positive repped quite a number of members for their contribution to the club/forum...
not on how much they've spent on modding but based on how helpful was the mod to the club/forum/car...
and of course on how constructive/informative are the posts on the forum...
No negative reps given out by me so far.....

If i remember correctly members like SC999, Johnson Lam, Tango, RyanS, Mildse7ens were rep leaders right before the system was taken offline... (sorry if i din mention some cos i cant remember all)
Which i believe all of u would agree that they all deserve to be reputation leaders....
In view of their contribution/assistance/helpfulness to our club/forum...

Another point to ponder is this reputation system was up and running since February 2009...
With good feedbacks and no problems until recently when it became a big issue...
I believe the only problem the system encountered was when Pyro got 167 positive reps due to some technical problems where 1 rep was continuously added until 167....
The rep system was not moderated/monitored as terion had mentioned...
and running of the system was left in the good hands of our fellow forummers...

Every system will have its pros and cons, as well as its flaws.....
Whether or not the system will benefit members will depend on how the members utilize the system...
Exploitation and taking advantages of the system via its loopholes is the reason that brought to the suspension of the system indefinitely....
and in the process also brought disharmony, dissatisfaction, anger and arguement among fellow forummers....
This defeats the purpose of the reputation system...thus it was removed indefinitely....

And please correct me if i m wrong....
Lancerzone is a car forum, and LGTC is a car club...
But forums are made active by MEMBERS (human), and car clubs are run by MEMBERS (human)...
U might be driving a STOCK Lancer, but that does not mean u cannot become LGTC president...
U might be driving a heavily-modded Lancer, but that does not mean u are above the R&R of the club and forum...
It's not just about Lancer, it is also about friendship, about sharing, and respecting each other...

That's all i have to say about the reputation system....
