when will the increase take place bro??? a 10% increase is quite substantial, thereby making the gt non-competitive to the likes of the civic 2.0...this is indeed worrisome......

if the increase in price is confirmed and is applicable to buyers still w/o their ride, then i'm afraid i'll hafta jump ship....

bender, i advise you to write ti MMM to confirm this news, quote the branch u booked and the SA who told you this. if this is true perhaps those who are waiting for the GT can protest officially through LGTC, make it big! at least MMM has to honour the original price. MMM could increase the price by then.

I don't think MMM will raise the price for those already booked, I think only for those who are booking now will be affected.

Legally they can change the price and you will be subjected to the new price if you haven't already got your car. I'm quite sure this is stated on t&c of your booking form.

However, this should only apply to those who paid booking fees. From what i know, if you paid your deposit (10% of amount for the car) upfront, then they will be forced to stick with the price - which is what i suspected all along when the dealerships refused to take full down payment until they had your car in hand.

MMM are not going to be able to sell the car any cheaper very probably because the price has been forced on them. To MMM, the price of the car remains the same all the time, its the import duties and taxes and what not that will increase. End of the day, if MMM honors the price, they will have to come out with the 10% out of their own pockets. Thats never going to happen, and MMM would rather refund your booking fee instead of forking out 10% for every car they deliver.

Any new batch coming into the country will be subjected to the new duties + taxes. The only question now is when does this new duties + taxes come into effect.

My SA told me b4 that the price maybe will increase when i got my car last week...n he did confirm that who ever dont get the car yet will b affected by the new price hike....BECAUSE YOU BOOKED THE CAR, NOT THE PRICE..according to him.

Then I'll terminate my booking and ask for dep. back..

guys...i think MMM have the rights to increase the price even for the ppl who already placed their booking...cause on the brochure, it says something like MMM have the rights to revise the price without prior notice....(very small words at the terms and condition section) ...fine prints..

Can you guys stop speculating until MMM confirmed the amount that they are going to increase? You can post it up if you have some proof or facts to support you. For example:-

"Alxand called and told me that he can't guarantee that I can get my car by this month"

"Mr. Lee from MMM informed me that there is a price increase for the current GT"

try looking for lionel in bangsar, he might know more, but not sure if he will disclose the information. He already has mentioned that there is a lot of complications wt regards to the GT, even a few 'showdowns' has happened with those who booked the cars.

either way, most if not all of you are not going to jump ship in november/december. It would be quite silly to book a new car and take delivery in december since it will be a 07 car instead of a 08 car. So, safe to say november and december would be a good waiting period by which time all the facts are sorted out from the rumours, and if indeed you want to jump ship, 3rd week of December would be a good time as the majority of cars close their order books for the following month on the 20th.

Guys...my SA just called me to follow up abt the car....he said now they dont accept anymore new booking for the Lancer...and the GS model will be available to current customer who booked GT, but with only 1k less than GT. The GT gonna increase 10k. Im not starting rumours...just share what i heard..so dont flame me :(

yes, it confirmed that they(Eon dealer) get the instruction from MMM to offer customers who booked for GT with GS at 114.500. ..next GT shipment will sell at 10% higher price..(but now they still wait official price announcement)
This 1st Batch GS slightly special as the just taken out the lather seat, Spoiler and smaller rim.. next GS will be without bodykit at all.

Well, my take (and this is only an opinion) on this is that they only had 400 GT's that they could sell at the discounted price. The next batch would only arrive in 2008, and be sold at the new prices. I know for a fact that the GS have been seating in port klang the same time the GT's arrived.

Either MMM underestimated the market for the GT, or they played a clever marketing ploy by tempting buyers to sign up using the good looks of the GT, and later hope they would settle for the GS. I mean, i would still think that at least 50% of the buyers who signed up for the GT might stick to their booking and get the GS. That in any books is still good business.

Bro, since they dont have any concrete confirmation from MMM regarding the new pricing and tat the ppl tat booked the GT will b charged d extra price is crazy??? MMM will only b losing alot of sales on d GT, as i guess alot of ppl will jump ship. Seems to me like they're just pushing u to get d GS although they dont have any concrete black n white from MMM. Ask them for prove tat existing buyers will be charged for the 10% increase.

Changing to GS allows u to have a 2.0 for a price of a competitor 1.8. Other stuff can slowly upgrade. Can even go to 17" without the headache we are having.

The way I see it, if the price really increase, it's a loss either way. Just have to cut your losses. The extra required for GT might be better spent as upgrades for the GS *shrugg*

yes, as i mentioned earlier, they have all the rights to change the price. Its stated in your booking VSO. Unless you paid the 10% downpayment, they can change the price anytime as you only payed a booking fee.

I suspected this when my SA refused to accept a full downpayment when i made the booking. She even refused to take a full lump sump cash payment and told me if i wanted to pay cash, need to wait for the car to be allocated first.

Just to add on... called my (or rather my wife SA as the car is in her name) SA when I first read bout the price increase. Verbally confirmed that there will be. Quantum bout 10k. Affect those who booked but yet to receive car. Only thing tentative is timing. SA will call me back next week to confirm the timing. Currently, SA quoted most likely new price to be effective Jan 08.

Cross fingers (& toes too) that I can receive the car in Dec though the chances are super slim, not to mention my preffered colour is Red.

i think MMM really should have stopped the bookings once their 07 stock ran out if they wanted to do special price or market testing... Now in this situation a lot of people will jump ship and MMM's reputation will be smeared... To me this is a bad marketing move whether or not they expected the car to sell or not.

No point telling the customers about the fine print now, since they never told us the car price will increase at the time of booking. Even if they had said this is a special introductory price, they should at least keep it that price for everyone who had booked and most importantly WAITED 2-3 months.

Imagine waiting 3 months only to find out the price is going to be increase unless you change to a lower spec with almost no difference in price. If not, not only u pay more but have to wait even longer for it....

here's another update. just called up a friend who has access to jpj information, and till late yesterday, their records indicate around ~350 Lancer GT 2.0 registered on the road across the country. That would mean, there just might be a lucky few who will get the remaining 50 or so cars in December, before the new batch with the new pricing comes into effect in Jan 08.

My SA actually said it when i took the car for a test drive - MMM did inform all the dealerships that the price was "a special introductory offer and for a limited time only".

Then my take on that is MMM (or is it the SA who hide the fact?) is not honest as they didn't come real clean about the price. What I mean is, other brand would normally indicate that low initial price is introductory price which doesn't last.

Yeah MMM can always point out they have the right to increase the price but if that's really the case I'd say shame on you MMM.

This is going to piss off a lot of customer.

True enough, my earlier theory came true, well, close, only thing I predicted MMM will take the middle path i.e increase 5k for GT and reduce 5k for GS. Thought of getting the GS and join the club but I guess I'm not fated to be with GS. Looking at the new price, the whole game plan has now changed and I will be going back to the drawing board. Looking back, MMM marketing managers need to attend more training courses and more importantly the one on managing customers' expectation. This is very damaging for MMM reputation.

But the good thing is, I will delay my upgrade and save some money for a better car. If C&C marketing manager is looking at this, it's a golden opportunity to bring in the all new Mazda 6 real fast to capitalise on this.

Yo, since everyone already know the story, I also no need to elaborate much on this issue!!! I am actually sick and upset with Mitsubishi Malaysia on their "Marketing strategies" to sell the Lancer!!! Anyway, if this is their initial selling price for the GT and GLS... I guess the response won't be that overwhelming from the public. Imagine the new price for Lancer GT is RM123k while the GLS is RM114,500.00... I guess the new Lancer still can survive with this new pricing because it is still cheaper then its rivals...

For me, I will go to have a look on the GLS model 1st. Since it is only RM1500.00 less than the old price of the GT, but only few items missing according to my SA,

- no rear wings spoiler but bodykit is still available
- 16' rim
- no Kepong-made Nappa Leather Seat
- smaller disc brake

I guess, if these are the only items, I am still OK with it!!! Because I've more excuses to mod the Lancer and customized it according to my own preference. Seriously, the original 18'rim doesn't look attractive to me... regarding the Nappa Leather Seat, since I know the place and the boss, I can actually ask them to install it for me. Rear wing spoiler??? A CF GT wings or the Evo X spoiler would looks more sexier on the new Lancer!!!
(I am trying to brain wash myself on getting the GLS ~ hahahaha.......)

Anyway, I will try to arrange an appointment with my SA and have a peep on the GLS model catalogue first before proceed further!!!
