The following are the books in my, uh, "library" :
Click to view attachmentI've gotten rid of a lot of books over the years, however. I used to devour story books/novels but sadly nowadays I just don't have much time (all spent browsing this forum, LOL).
I recently bought James Rollins' "The Judas Strain" altho' I hardly have time to read (you can surmise I like reading his stuff from the pic above. just like Dan Brown which btw should have his follow-up to "The Da Vinci Code" come Sept this year, read this in today's newspaper... 5 million copies for first print run... a record).
Those that love reading novels, let's share here i.e. the stuff you like, why, etc.

What's the book about?
I never buy stuff that are about self-improvement (altho' my wife does... so, once in a while, I will read her books :) ) nor too much about reality... I mean, the reason I like reading those books in the pic above are to get
away from reality :)

I read some books in my spare time, both fiction and non-fiction including self improvement books.
I know the story:- Romance of the Three Kingdom but in bits and pieces only. If I remember correctly, the 3 blood brothers:-
(1) Liu Bei (die from illness?)
(2) Guan Yu was captured and later beheaded by his enemies when he refused to change alliance. He is known today as the deity "God of War" for his loyalty.
(3) Zhang Fei, killed in his sleep, by his officers, who feared him for his bad temper.
I can't read Chinese, so I missed out on a lot of good books. :(
P/S: If I have the time, I wish to start a separate topic here on inspirational military stories.

One of the favourite hero has become the God and holly by most of the chinese, my house got one. - Kwan Kung.

"1984" boring like h*ll for me la... never finished it... :) I treat reading books like watching movies lo... i.e. the book's gotta make me continue to read on and not make me wanna switch off the TV (i.e. the movie analogy).
That said... "Jurassic Park" The Movie was way more enjoyable than Crichton's book :) I'm actually quite sad Crichton's dead... his books are page-turners... always enjoyed reading them but I sold them off quite a while back. How many of his books have been turned into a movie? IIRC, there's Jurassic Park, Lost World, Andromeda Strain (TV), Twister, Sphere, Timeline, Disclosure, Rising Sun and Congo... anything I missed? His books = movies. Great writer that recognizes what his audience and the general public at large wants to read.

For a dummy like me who don't know anything about cars, this is the book I bought. Don't laugh-lah guys, I know I am stupid.
The book is titled
Car Hacks & Mods for Dummies by David Vespremi. See
http://www.dummies.com/store/product/Car-H...0764571427.htmlThis is a A-Z guide for car mods.
The internet review summarised what I want to say:-
Car Hacks & Mods for Dummies will get you turbo-charged up about modifying your car and guide you smoothly through:
Choosing a car to mod
Considering warranties, legal, and safety issues
Hacking the ECU (Engine Control Unit) to adjust performance-enhancing factors like fuel injection, firing the spark plugs, controlling the cooling fan, and more.
Replacing your ECU with a plug and play system such as the APEXi Power FC or the AEM EMS system
Putting on the brakes (the faster you go, the faster you’ll need to stop)
Setting up your car for better handling and cornering
Choosing new wheels, including everything from the basics to dubs and spinners
Putting your car on a diet, because lighter means faster
Basic power bolt-ons and more expensive power adders
Installing roll bars and cages to enhance safety
Adding aero add-ons, including front “chin” spoilers, real spoilers, side skirts, and canards
Detailing, down to the best cleaners and waxes and cleaning under the hood
Using OBD (on-board diagnostics) for troubleshooting
Getting advice from general Internet sites and specific message boards and forums for your car’s make or model, whether it’s a Chevy pick-up or an Alfa Romeo roadster
Whether you want to compete at drag strips or on road courses or simply accelerate faster on an interstate ramp, if you want to improve your car’s performance, Car Hacks & Mods for Dummies is just the boost you need.
