I have had a 7-foot long aquarium for the past 14 years. Recently, due to some house renovation, I decided to throw away the old aquarium cabinets+cover and decided to custom-make new ones. This is how it looks now :

It is a two-way-see-through aquarium as you can see; it is placed where it is in my house to act as a "wall", to kinda act like a "divider" between my dining area (behind the aquarium in the pic) and a mini-living area (from where I took the pic).

All along, I had been rearing a variety of fresh water fishes. Due to the house renovation, ALL of those fishes had died (don't ask why... very heart pain)... and my wife said that it might be interesting and nice to rear goldfishes post-renovation. Hence, the goldfishes in the pic above. Will be buying a few more nice ones when I have the time.

I had considered salt water fishes and corals many many times... but its cost and time-consuming caring simply turned me off.

Any members here are aquarium hobbyists? Do you know where I can find very nice goldfishes in the KV?

I want excitement. One is not exciting... surely you know la, c***t. That fish is old-fashioned liao... it is just so d*mn FUGLY... I have never liked it, always wondered what's the big deal about it.

Before I decided to rear goldfishes, I had a mini-argument with my wife... she wanted goldfishes (like I said) but I wanted just one single gold arowana... (I used to rear a silver arowana... so peaceful looking at it swim).

So... anyone knows where to get good goldfishes?

Goldfishes are not easy to maintain... they eat and sh*t a lot... You need good filtration... You can try looking at the Pasar Road Market. Sometimes you can find nice and cheap ones there... Nice aquarium.. How much did you pay for it?

Bro, gold fish in a clear water tank is a big no no.... plus for a 7 feet tank, it would make a great scape.

For the aquarium? A lot... go ask an aquarium shop about a 7x1.5x1.5 tank :)

medowance, thanks for your advice... but it is likely I will stick to goldfishes for a short while. I know they sh*t a lot (my artificial plants already got a lotta floating sh*t trails)... I have never liked goldfishes... but I sayang my wife ma :)

I'll see how it goes over the next month or so... my personal preference would be to just rear a single Arowana... I can sit and see it swim gracefully for hours... better than this forum :)

Gold fish, other than shiting, they love to dig as well and they are destroyer.

Love green algae water (more healthier for them), need dechlorinate water (cannot use diamond), need air pump for breathing... lol (lazy fish that don't fully uses it gills).

Nice and pretty, but fat and ugly as well as clumsy. Love to chase other gold fish butt like a dog :D

Anyway.. I hate goldfish :D had many bad experience from this super pampered fish.

Bro get discus, those wild discus are nice.

From my experience and what I have been told... discus smell awful and are EXTREMELY picky.

I started this topic about rearing goldfishes... I hope to know where I can good ones and how to maintain a goldfish aquarium. Thanks.

I have a big clay pond at my front porch filled with goldfish. They r really cute becos they can recognise the family members and will come to the edge of the pond. Greedy or friendly, u can decipher for yourself but if u ignore them, they will flick their tails and splash water at you!

Rev, there are nice goldfish at Pudu Market but I get mine from the Shah Alam Aquarium located next to the Water Park. They usually have promotions like buy 2 get 1 free, etc.
And you can also have a look at the Giant Arapaima...they have like 4/5 in one of their big tanks...GELI!

Rev, get the goldfish with long tails and that swims like a gurlie gurl tottering on high heels...and its body must have a certain "pertness"...lovely! The Shah Alam Aquarium boys will give u tips on how to choose a lovely goldfish.

Maintaining a goldfish aquarium? U have to be rajin lor. At least once a week must wash the tank lor...as i said, Shah Alam Aquarium boys will give u tips on maintaining the tank and how to keep your goldfish healthy. Goldfish has a tendency to float terbalik, not dieded but becos of bloatedness...the feed is also important...aiya, just go to Shah Alam Aquarium la..or Google!

Happy Gold-fishing!
