confused.gif Today I heard over the TV that 9 people died (same day) due to H1N1. One is a pregnant lady with her unborn. It is very disheartening as there is no known cure except the nearest is Tammy Flu pills. As at this time 27 has died.

In a crowded place it takes one victim to sneeze and the droplets is enough to spread it to 1 - 7 others. confused.gif And it has a multiplying effect. Wow this is even more serious then AIDS. Our General Practitioners themselves won't be able to 100% detect the symptoms unless they do a throat swab (read in the papers). By the snap of the finger (figure of speech) your Loved One is gone. IT IS VERY SCARY. I know we have Doctors in our Forum and well raed members who can contribute to this topic. wacko.gif LET'S UPDATE each other on this.

I got an email told a true story on H1N1.

High risk infection to person yg smooking, has atshma, children, pregnant woman

Beginner stage
Batuk, selsema, demam, sakit tekak, bila terbesin bunyi tak kuat...

Second Stage
Susah bernafas, simtom macam asthma but not asthma, at this stage if you touch the person, or breath in the same room 80% boleh kena...masa ni kena kuarantin...at hospital. Masalahnya sekarang dah ramai yg kena. hospital tak cukup katil & bilik kuarantin...Bila u pengsan macam nak mati baru dia org admitted.macam kes adik I.

Critical
Lung infection. Bila X ray we can see the virus covered the lung. Like my brother case. Very scary bila tengok x ray tu. At this stage u need oksigen with highest level, Strongest antivral..very high drug. At least 7 days oksigen kena bagi. % to recover depend to age, imune badan u. That's why kalau baby atau budak2 susah nak kata...normally die. My brother hari ni genap 8 hari..still need oksigen. Kesian dia. Masa tahap critical tu tercungap2 dia bernafas, sampai menangis..Sampai satu tahap dia berguling atas simen sbb dah tak tahan...sampai dia give up .sampai dia blh cakap lebih baik Allah ambik nyawa dia...Itu lelaki tu..imagine kalau pompuan atau budak2. We all cuma blh tengok dia dari cermin...tak blh masuk dlm bilik kuarantin...Dr & nurse aje boleh masuh...siap pakai baju plastik. To support him, what we did bagi sms, bagi dia alquran biar dia baca so that dia tenang, bagi tasbih biar dia zikir ingat Allah & bagi Air yasin...Alhamdulillah pastu dia ok sikit.Ada hikmahnya...All the family member unite to support my brother fighting the virus.

Masalahnya hospital swasta tak terima H1N1 case, sekarang ni semua depend hospital kerajaan yg most of the doctors still young . The oldest dr in my brother ward was 28 years. All the Otai dah pergi private. Lepas tu plak this is the first time to treat H1N1 patient. At the same time dr bz with other case as well...1 doktor 5 patient...kat gov hospital...kesian dr2 tu...berhempas pulas nak selamatkan patient. I appreciate them, mmg very appreciate dia org jaga adik i dgn baik sekali..So far hospital Ampang is the best goverment hospital yg i jumpa..very efficient.Very quick action ..Even senior dia org dah pergi private & they don't have much experience , dia org tetap work hard give the best treatment to the patients..sampai tak balik rumah...tidor kat hospital.

Rasa nak peluk & cium dia org sebab selamatkan adik I...Thanks to Allah.

Take care & be careful with H1N1. Virus tu very strong...sape kena...memang suffer nak recover...No vaksin..cuma ada antiviral & our mental warrior to fight them. Very genius virus..Can hide in our body...difficult to detect. Only can detect thru swap which the cost is 1K above. Unable detected in blood as well. When they start action...Can kill the person if the body imune does not strong. For those have baby atau anak2, U & ur family do not go to crowded place, better wear mask when u outside from home. The vaksin will come to Msia in Nov-Dec. So far yg I nampak..hanya lelaki dewasa can fight the virus...woman might be 70% , children most probably will die.

Take care You & Your Family

There is actually no way of differentiating influenza H1N1 from normal cough and cold (URTI - upper respiratory tract infection).....
Now they r all termed as ILI symptoms (influenza like illness)...
Basically if u have fever, cough, runny nose, headache, difficulty breathing u may b contracting H1N1...
but u may b just having a normal flu as well...
there is virtually no way 2 differentiate them other than doing d H1N1 throat swab for PCR...
Tamiflu (osetalmivir) is an antiviral suggested to be taken to combat against H1N1....
But pls bear in mind this antiviral has not been proven to be effective in treating or preventing H1N1...

So my piece of advise...if u do have ILI symptoms....stay at home....
drink lots of water...seek medical consultation early for medications....

MOH (Ministry of Health) has already announced that there will be no more updates on number of new cases from each state as the new cases are growing in numbers like nobody's business....

Point to ponder...will all of us survive this wave? huh.gif

Bro...the drug is not 'Tammy Flu'......it's called 'Tamiflu or oseltamivir'
The drug only been given to patient who are admitted to the hospital only.

We have major problem in HUSM where I work, the detection kit has ran out! Hoping to get it sooner........and public need to understand also.....not all patient we do the throat swab......only for the high risk patient........lot of patient angry when we decline the throat swab.

so the high risk group are:
1.Kanak-kanak berusia kurang 5 tahun

some interesting info:

Bolehkah antiviral ini mencegah jangkitan influenza A(H1N1) ?

well...just keep your health in top condition...your body immune system is the best defense you've got....the drugs can help a bit...not to cure you...but improve your immune system...to be more alert...just my 2 cent...

avoid high risk area...crowded and constricted area...hospital,cinema,shopping complex, work place...bus terminal...airport...if you are sick(got 1 or any combination of H1N1 symptoms)...pls be considerate to others...and do your self quarantine effectively...

I remember pre 2004, unless one appreciates (and not just memorise) what one learns in Physical Geography during MCE/SPM days, not many Malaysians know of the word "Tsunami". But after the infamous earthquake near Acheh that eventful December 2004, even Mamak stalls patronisers can give a lecture about Tsunami.

Likewise, I was very familiar with "Tamiflu" from my days at Mecca. I remember most of our jemaah Haji or Umrah would normally be healthy and in high spirits at the beginning of our rituals. Halfway through, most of us would be bogged down with symptoms of flu due to various races of Muslims there unintentionally carrying flu viruses with them. That's where most of us learn about "Tamiflu" from the many local pharmacists there. Alhamdullillah, from that point on until our return home, most of us if not all will be back in high spirits despite having occasional coughs after prescribing to "Tamiflu". That's why most of those that have performed their Umrah and or Hajj would be very familiar with "Tamiflu".

In the case of Malaysia, now, no thanks to Swine Flu, practically every Malaysians are familiar with the word "Tamiflu". Let's pray the virus' dna don't get familiar with the word "Tamiflu" too or else it will mutate to be immune to "Tamiflu" too. I recall from my biochemistry days viruses don't succumb to vaccinations or the likes. They just lie in dormant state until the ideal surrounding and biological condition prevail. So as our beloved fellow LGTC members pointed out above, the best method to reduce our chances of contracting this "test from nature" is to minimise our exposure to crowded places. Impossible as it may sound, we must at least endeavour.

well, all the important facts pointed out above already

simple things to do:
1. always practice good hand hygiene
(wudhu'/ablution is a good example)
2. take vitamin c, either fresh fruits, juices or supplements daily
(even more if ur feeling unwell or having cold/flu as it will improve n boost ur immune system)
3. self home quarantine
(if ur having mild symptoms as described previously)
4. take panadol and cough remedy as necessary
5. if symptoms worsening or not resolving after 3 days, seek professional treatment
6. avoid going out to crowded places
7. if still need to, take some precaution ie; wear face mask
(better still, use the face mask everytime going out of house, as u never know who has the flu/ILI in the public.but, need to spend some money lah to buy those face mask)
8. use tissue paper or handkerchief to cover ur mouth during coughing or sneezing

just bear in mind
PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE

yet again guys, like i said before about the H1N1, my clinic is one of the main distributors for a AIR TREATMENT SYSTEM that removes 99.999% of that virus (single pass efficiency) and i have many doctors (especially GP's who always have the first direct contacts with the subjects or patients) purchasing the unit for their own protection.... we are working on the next bulk buy end of this August 2009... anyone of you guys is interested or you know of some good friends which are doctors or practitioners, do share this information with them, just for the sake of sharing and caring, ask them to give me a call for further information and detailed technical specifications on the unit @ (Gerald (R.D) 016-2385016), and again no obligations.

Sorry if this is not the correct place to put this postings but i was thinking about getting a bigger Group Bulk Buy would be a wiser choice... win win situation la. Cheers.

Just to share a piece of information which i think is important....
Most of the deaths resulted from respiratory tract infection (namely pneumonia/pneumonitis)...
So please do seek treatment early if you develop shortness of breath or cough out purulent sputum...
these symptoms are uncommon in common cough n cold...
n please wear mask whenever u go out 2 crowded places... mellow.gif

This is an email that i received from my colleague..

JUST A SMALL BUT MEANINGFUL INFO FM ME TO YOU AND YR FRIENDS...MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE OF H1N1 SINCE IT PRACTICALLY HIT US LIKE A TIME BOMB.....

My staff was crying herself sick on Tuesday morning...was told that her son was confirmed of H1N1 in his Uni at Kangar, Perlis...worse was that when he was bedridden 2 days the warden didnt even bother to sent to hospital till his dad came fm KL and with his friends assistance brought him to GH Kangar....

No one bothered in the hospital and he was put in the normal ward for another 2 days!!! (imagine the amount of people he has infected!!) .....after 2 days and his eyes were turning yellow and saliva greenish...he was put in quarantined room...

Called his mom to say...minta maaf and ampun la dosa dia, etc...she practically fainted just telling me the story.. cant do much cos she x have enough money to go to the north with the father...

First thing we did was made her call the hospital and insist that they sent him to Sg.Buloh Hospital or any other hospital in KL since they seemed to be more alert and more equipt...they refused of course...so I sent her off to Kangar the same day to solve the problem.

Whilst this was happening, SUBHANALLAH, I had a call from one Ustaz who was in town to "help cure" another H1N1 child in Shah Alam....and was told this simple prescription by him.....of course kena redha pada ALLAH and niat dengan sesungguh nya...selawat 3x...

EAT MINIMUM 6 GREEN APPLES A DAY AND FRESH ORANGE JUICE
for those with sore throat please blend the apples and keep on taking till your fever disappear and yr symtoms are gone....I cannot explain it but the child in Shah Alam was ok too after taking this tip....

ALHAMDULILLAH...my staff's son was given the apple juice for the whole day on Monday/Tuesday and dengan kuasa ALLAH he was out of the fever yesterday Wednesday....she called me and was crying on the phone to say that her son was out of ICU and was able to eat normally...all these happened within just 4 days today (thursday 6 august)...

This is just to share with my fellow sisters and brothers and hope this small info could assist others as well, INSYA'ALLAH!!!!!!!!!! No harm in trying and kuasa ALLAH anything can happen!!!!

It is at times of uncertainties like these when lots of inconsiderate/selfish people will try to make maximum profit out of something...

Recently someone's been promoting influenza vaccinations n pneumococcal vaccinations in an effort to prevent H1N1...n charging exponentially expensive for d jabs....
Kindly note that there is NO vaccine available yet for H1N1....
Guys n gals please refer to our CDC's website for most updated and accurate information

This is what I got:

QUOTE
Dear all,

Not all who gets H1N1 gets pneumonia BUT all who died of H1N1 gets pneumonia.

So, we should focus on how we can prevent pneumonia if we get H1N1….. not how to prevent H1N1.

For those high risk group, getting pneumococcal vaccination is one of the defense mechanism we could use against dying from H1N1. You might still get H1N1 but at least you have a 30% lower risk of dying from H1N1.

Studies have shown here (http://www.latimes.com/features/health/la-sci-pneumonia4-2009aug04,0,6872284.story ) that 30% of h1N1 pneumonia related deaths are due to Streptococcus pneumoniae. Getting yourself vaccinated means you have eliminated 30% of the possible risk of dying from H1N1 pneumonia.

Of course, that does not mean you will not get H1N1 but at least you will not die of it… that’s what everyone would prefers. It’s really not about afraid of getting H1N1, it’s more about dying from it……..

So if the government is serious in preventing H1N1 deaths, all those in the high risk group should get pneumococcal vaccination. Also, please ensure that all clinics are able to administer this vaccination to adults as well and not only to the children….

confused.gif Probably true...The Muslims were prohibited from consuming Pork (the origin of H1N1) very2 long time ago..due to health threatening reasons..they can only eat pork if it is very2 necessary..like there is no other food..This is stated in the Quran..I don not know about the Bible..Maybe there is?? Due to sensitivity we in M'sia call it thru the scientific name H1N1 but in US and other countries 'The Swine Flu". dry.gif

Pandemic H1N1 by country

COUNTRY.........INFECTED..........DEATH
Japan...................5022.................1
Indonesia..............854..................3
Hong Kong............7071.................4
Philippines.............3207.................8
Singapore..............1217................11
Malaysia.................3857...............64

Currently Malaysia is in the 9th place in the world of highest mortality rate............this would made our mortality rate 1.65%..........it is so high..........the usual mortality rate for H1N1 ranging from 0.1-0.4 only..........why is this happened to our country........??????

If 5,000 000 of Malaysian will be infected...............82,500 will be die............May God bless we all.

Guys.........please take all the precautions. Wear your mask......wash hand properly.

Yup.....it's true bro.
The 1918 flu pandemic (the Spanish flu) was an influenza pandemic that spread to nearly every part of the world.
It was caused by an unusually virulent and deadly influenza A virus strain of subtype H1N1.
The pandemic lasted from March 1918 to June 1920 , spreading even to the Arctic and remote Pacific islands. It is estimated that anywhere from 50 to 100 million people were killed worldwide. An estimated 500 million people, one third of the world's population (approximately 1.6 billion at the time), became infected.

Concur with you bro Phantom EX. This is what I have from my record on the prohibition of pork in Bible (Old Testament) and Al-Quran:

Pork prohibited in the Old Testament
Leviticus 11,7-8
And the swine, though he divide the hoof, and be cloven footed, yet he cheweth not the cud; he is unclean to you. Of their flesh shall ye not eat, and their carcass shall ye not touch, they are unclean to you.

Deuteronomy 14,8
And the swine, because it divideth the hoof, yet cheweth not the cud, it is unclean unto you. Ye shall not eat of their flesh, nor touch their dead carcass.

Qur'an prohibits pig consumption
One example of verses from the Qur'an on pig consumption:

Qur'an 16:115.

He has only forbidden you dead meat, and blood, and the flesh of swine, and any (food) over which the name of other than Allah has been invoked. But if one is forced by necessity, without willful disobedience, nor transgressing due limits,- then Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
Qur'an 2:173.

He hath only forbidden you dead meat, and blood, and the flesh of swine, and that on which any other name hath been invoked besides that of Allah. But if one is forced by necessity, without wilful disobedience, nor transgressing due limits,- then is he guiltless. For Allah is Oft-forgiving Most Merciful.

That's bad bro. I seriously hope the G will take all measures to curb this problem. At our end, I still see people walking around without their face masks on. I believe it is high time to encourage them to wear the face mask. The problem is worrying. VERY.
