it should if conducted in the right manner but the home quarantine was abused by both patients and the health authorities
patients were supposed to stay indoors for one whole week but they went out to supermarkets, clinics and other crowded places without taking precautions e.g. wearing masks, they spread the virus to other people
the health authorities shouldn't be letting people go back for home quarantine by themselves, some more allowing them to take buses, trains etc.
patient education is the most important in preventing further spread....
please be careful LGTCians

no matter what, taking precaution, hand washing and quarantine are the utmost importance... i would recommend all of us should have a dettol sanitizer or septi-sol along wif us every moment, so we can wash our hand effectively after touching something. And 1 thing, whenever u feel like want to rub ur eyes or nose or put ur finger into ur mouth ( like KFC advertisement, finger lickin' good

) pls make sure ur hands are clean b4 u do that...
however, what i heard is up to 10,000 death is expected in our country for this pandemic. now is just the early phase of it. G has to really do something and pay more attention to it by not only anouncing the number of death. in my opinion, public awareness in here is still very poor, most of the citizen only start how to prevent after they or their family member got the symptoms of H1N1. And they are still happily go shopping in mall without having mask on them.
actually, normal mask that we can buy from farmasi doesn't really work well to protect from H1N1. N95 surgical mask will be more effective in protecting us from the virus. not i want to say u must buy N95 mask, having just a normal mask is still better than nothing at all...hehee...
i hope that everyone can follow the prevention steps to minimize the infections, be considerate to urself and others by quarantine urself if u suspect u r having the virus. by the way, LGTC promotes public awareness would be a really good idea...!!

I really dun see how this convoy would help spread the awareness of H1N1... I mean the education is already so much on air and in the news and newspaper.... honestly ...sorry for being a wet blanket but this 's really gonna be a waste of time especially to the commitee organizing it....well, it oculd be fun for members though:).....
Anyway, H1N1 is everywhere!!! like it or not...it's like a pandemic flu in our country already....
My results for H1n1 just came back as positive today!! I had a horrible flu 2 weeks ago, 2 days high fever of more than 38.5, didin't respond to panadol, had cough and runny nose....never had this kinda flu for my past 15 yrs!...anyway, took tamiflu and the next morning, felt heaps better..... A lot of my colleagues in the hospital have flu...and it's bad flu...
So...the strong will be natually imunized while those with co morbids will be in danger....
take home message....1) dun convoy and contract/ spread the disease.
2) those who have no co morbids, get on with life and if the flu comes to you, take tamiflu and pray hard.
3) those with co morbids, try at best to stay at home. i.e those with diabetes, asthma, heart disease or those who have low body imune system.... while waiting for the vaccine to be available.
4) those who have flu, stay in your room alone and quarantine yourself.... you might not die but your family might be in danger.
5) Just take the precautions...but dun be overly anxious and worried bout H1n1....
6) Pray hard and be close to God.....coz He's your biggest protection....and live your life as though you're oging to die in a week. :)):)
God bless you my dear frens....

d only useful thing that LGTC can help do is set up a booth somewhere n distribute/sell masks....
which oso i think is a bit odd for a car club 2 do so....
pendek kata i think we should not do anything at this point of time...
osetalmivir is now virtually given 2 all patients presenting with ILI symptoms....
Malacca GH alone had 11 confirmed H1N1 deaths....(out of 66 in Malaysia)....
i think it's best not 2 go 2 crowded places at this point of time....
n avoid going 2 hospital as much as u can (highest viral spreading in hospital compound)

i met with a patient who work in IMR doing H1N1 screening for patients during locum last night. they get more or less 600 samples daily n they couldnt cope with it.
the message i get from her is that to avoid contracting H1N1, you should wear N95 mask. the usual mask, you have to wear it 3 layers!!! the problem with N95 mask is, you might suffocate yourself from wearing it, its too thick...

I think it is a good effort to distribute facemask to the public coz like here in Kelantan it is difficult to get a mask and pharmacy is selling 10x higher than normal price.
In HUSM, our stor is currently has ran out of mask. All 14,000 boxes of mask which contains 50 pieces... all has been distributed to the wards and clinics. And the mask is being 'catu' by the Sister(ketua jururawat) becoz a lot of staffs take more than one and give to their friends & family.
I've talk to my Sister regarding the mask........she said that non of the mask's supplier is responding for any order from hospital and this is quite alarming.
Maybe Bro Samad has to think about how to get the mask.
And of course N95 mask is the best but it is better you got with any type of mask rather than nothing.
So go for it Bro Samad.

QUOTE
Friends,
Thanks to media hype about H1N1, I’ve received calls from several who trust me, to advise. The hype in media about the utility of face masks and N95 as a tool for general protection against H1N1 can’t be deplored enough. Today, a friend who listened wanted me to write down briefly what I advised so that he could tell others in similar words. Hence this short email to friends whom I have advised recently. Please realize that this is not an official advice, especially the one about face masks or N95.
Most N95 respirators are designed to filter 95% particulates of 0.3µ, while the size of H1N1 virus is about 0.1µ. Hence, dependence on N95 to protect against H1N1 is like protecting against rain with an umbrella made of mosquito net.
Tamiflu does not kill but prevents H1N1 from further proliferation. H1N1, like other Influenza A viruses, only infects the upper respiratory tracts and proliferates (only) there. The only portals of entry are the nostrils and mouth/ throat. In a global epidemic of this nature, it’s almost impossible not coming into contact with H1N1 in spite of all precautions. Contact with H1N1 is not the problem but proliferation is..
While you are still healthy and not showing any symptoms of H1N1 infection, in order to prevent proliferation, aggravation of symptoms and development of secondary infections, some very simple steps — not fully highlighted in most official communications — can be practised (instead of focusing on how to stock N95 or Tamiflu):
1. Hand-washing (well highlighted in all official communications)
2. “Hands-off-the-face” approach. Resist all temptations to touch any part of face (unless you want to eat, bathe or slap).
3. Gargle twice a day with warm salt water (use Listerine if you don’t trust salt).. H1N1 takes 2-3 days after initial infection in the throat to proliferate and show characteristic symptoms. Simple gargling prevents proliferation. In a way, gargling with salt water has the same effect on a healthy individual that Tamiflu has on an infected one. Don’t underestimate this simple, inexpensive and powerful preventative method.
4. Similar to 3 above, clean your nostrils at least once every day with warm salt water. Not everybody may be good at Sutra Neti (a very good Yoga asana to clean the nasal cavities), but blowing the nose hard once a day and swabbing both nostrils with cotton buds dipped in warm salt water is very effective in bringing down viral population. Happy breathing!
CEO sent this memo out today. simple yet proven method to prevent the disease. i also think it should be made compulsory for the public to wear face masks...not sure for how long but until we have a proven vaccination against the disease.

guys...thanks alot for your well wishes and concerns...actually...I WAS sick 2 weeks ago and I"m well now...IMR oni mananged to sent the results 2 weeks later.
Anyway, the patient I contracted it from died 4 days ago...so I supposed dthe strain I got is a virulent one...Somehow, I believe that there're a few strains....or rather subtypes...becoz this H1N1 is already pandemic....SO MANY
ppl are getting flu symptoms....and I believe that it has to be this H1N1...but oni a few get it bad.....I for one got it bad...and I believe that if I had asthma or if my system is weak, I might have succumbed to it. Anyway, I"m not wearing a mask in the hosp since I"ve already acquired the imunity actively..:):) ( I hope so :)
well...is the G doing enuf?? I think they haf and if they really wanna do something, they should have a curfew and declare a state of emergency for at least ONE week....That WILL SURELY slow down the transmission rate or maybe retard it! IT"S THE ONI way......
wearing N95 everywhere you go is just too impractical....and even if you haf one, you're advice to change it every 4 hourly...that goes for all the masks around. All the more for those healthcare workers or those of you who will be in the hospital vicinity...
besides the advice given in my previous posting....do this too....
DRINK PLENTY OF WATER and MOST IMPORTANT...DUMP IN VITAMIN C at least 1000 mg daily as for now. IT will boost your imune system...that's wut you really need at the moment....

Sorry but I can't help myself not responding. I've mention this before but for the benefit of others, allow me to say it again.
Currently there may be a lot of colostrum based products in the market. But I would like to mention about Alpha Lipid Life Line. It is a colostrum based product from New Zealand. However unlike other product which is ceritfied by the consumers or a private body/agency, Alpha Lipid is certified by the
Government of NZ. So, rest assured, the product is good.
Currently, my family and I are consuming it on a daily basis. What I can say is that, this product is good and it has done wonders to me and my family, God Willing.
