I have loads of videos which I wanna keep.

I want it in the highest quality format, universally acceptable by most players and PC and as small file as possible.

I want to keep it in 720 x 480, 4:3 and with a minimum of 6000kbits.

Seems to me that the best is mpg.

At least I can format it to mp4 or 3gp if I want to make it portable.

Agree? biggrin.gif

AVI with DIVX format. Can be play on most dvd player/client. Make sure you choose DIVX not DIXV4 or DIVX5.

Hhaha..

The source files are in pure AVI which I usually convert to MPEG2 @ 720x480, 6000kbits. Others which are in 3gp/mp4, I convert to MPEG 2 too.

Can the DVIX you suggest equal in quality as in the MPEG2 senario above? I have seen AVI (DVIX), but the quality is crap...maybe because its in 4&5 you mentioned.

End of day, 50 years from now, the video files, must be still be able to be read in future.....pure AVI I know will, MPEG2????
