Hi guys, since i can't post a new topic anywhere else but here i guess i'll try it here, unless the mods can move it to somewhere else to get more response.
My question is, so now many have owned the lancer for a few hours, days or years now, how many of you felt you have overrated the lancer because of the way of it's looks and is now getting that gut feeling you should have gone with your other choice the civic 2.0, or mazda or a honda DC5 or any other car caldina, mark x, etc, that your wife/husband was probably right again. Are you starting to get that bleah feeling from the car and secretly feel the car just didn't live up to how it looks either because of performance, comfort or gadgets, standard equipment, maintenence.
how many quietly feel they would dispose of the car if they weren't tied down with the loan or some other commitment and instead choose their original choice?
or you are pleased with your choice?
No need to give long explanations about how people feel, how we should not let people opinions affect us and and and......
It's between you and your decision to plonk 125k for the car and now the general feel or satisfaction.

The best thing my friend is to look at the Technical specs and pricing. The other factor is the driver and fuel you are using. Weigh these factors.

Comparing cars is normal and actually nice. Comparing your wife to another woman is Not Nice in my books and experience... as usual, only my opinion.
Besides, one is a machine while the other is a human being. You should know which one to spend more money on or to pamper more.

blazerSST, the reason u can't start a new topic anywhere is because new members are encourage to intro themselves in the new member section first and for members here to get to know u whether you're a lancer owner or just a fan... but from this topic, seems like its neither...
Anyway there is a proper section for this topic, however since you as TS won't be able to access it, it has been moved to the Paddock Area until further notice.

My wife hates it coz its a chick magnet.
I drive very slow when i drive my dad, coz its noisy and bouncy.
The car transforms into a dark terror when i am driving it alone whacking the road bends. I left tyres print in the costal road of PD.
The best thing i like about this car is the handling. I have no regrets getting it.

great to see first hand owners response to this, because understandably there are other cars which do give the LGT a run for its money, of course many wouldn't admit openly that they now are second guessing themselves, and hence the poll would allow anonymity, and from the looks of it, there are many who are really happy with it.

How Lancer owners think about their car before-and-after greatly depends on their experience and exposure to cars. So, IMHO, this thread and poll cannot give you the kind of answer I think you are looking for.
As it is, I also think this club plays a great role in its members appreciating their Lancer more than they would've if they hadn't known about this club or joined it.

blazerSST, everyone has different expectations on their 'ride of the life'....
to me my dream ride (which one day i should be able 2 afford ) is not LGT....
i bought my LGT purely just because it happened to be d ride i love d most in dat price range that i can afford (comparatively to Mazda3, FD2, Altis, Latio etc)....
Depending on ur own expectations u might find LGT a disappointment/satisfaction...
it's a give n take thing...
In d end it still comes down to....what r u looking for n how much u can afford?

The looks....YES!! I admit that I felt in love at first sight....
but after a year owning the lancer... and my longest trip to Kelantan and Padang Besar from JB....
I can say... the lancer is a comfort long distance driving machine, very good endurance, superb handling but only that I realize.... the "syok" feel is just for the driver..... you know what i mean guys..

of course of course, what i mean is when choosing between the mazda 3, fd2, altis etc. you did not get the lancer simply because it looked the best, there were other merits that made up your mind, stuffs like ipod integration, leather seats or electric seats or paddle shift or anything else. stuffs like 'aiyah this don't have that don't have, this have to pasang outside, d*mn tyres are expensive' these little things that in the end 'should have bought the other one'.
i was curious to see if people who bought had over-expected of the lgt and if looks are subtracted, does the remainder stuff just still hold out against its competitors, of course back then at 112k at first launch is a stinking deal but now that the pricing is almost identical to competitors, is it still that good a buy.
I overestimated the performance of LGT but it's still a superb car for average driving. I compared with Civic, Latio and Masda3 before deciding on LGT because I believed it offered the best bang of a buck. If anyone is looking for a car I would still strongly recommend a LGT.
Hi Blazer, if you don't mind me asking, why are you doing this survey?
Are you looking for a car within that budget, doing a survey for a company or etc etc...
And also, it will be great if you introduce yourself..

There were a few things my wife & I considered before buying Lancer such as the price tag, CBU.... If it wasn't my wife who loved the look of the car at first sight, we would have opted a MPV which I think it should suit my family better. Of course, most importantly the price of Lancer was within and below our budget that drove us to choose Lancer. And I thought I was going to be happy about it. After driving it for slightly more than a year, I'm disappointed with the "CBU" coz I get irritating noices from the car door & dashboard. My expectations were higher.

Ah I see... Well, you got my poll..
I would say it's a decent car for the price you're paying.. You get what you pay for... Anyway, it was either Civic before I saw the LGT launch... It met some if not most of my expectations..

for me closest runner up was Ford Focus or Mazda 3 for new cars. FD not interested.
loves: comes with 18", bodykit, paddles, leather, handling, interior space, LGTC!
things I spent money to improve: low end response & gear responsiveness, soundproofing
things I can live with: less sophisticated dashboard, tyre noise on some concrete stretches
verdict: happy with money spent.
