Very easy to setup, on the PS3 no need to set anything.
Just install the software on ur pc/notebook then just set which folder u want it to share, then in the ps3 just look for the media server...

how to setup:

kevii, yupe thats true. thats why u use tversity to decode those formats into something the PS3 can understand and play back.
rmvb is no execption and should be able to work.
provided u install the proper codecs that is listed in the guide

got this from another forum:

I just got it to work, using Tversity 1.0.0.3 (havent gotten around to that update) and Real Alternative 1.84. Seems like my old install of Real Alternative wasnt working so I reinstalled over it, opened up TVersity and turned off using directshow to transcode as well. Put the .rmvb files in a C:/Trans and it popped like a charm. I also have K Lite Codec pack installed before installing Real Alternative.
to download K Lite Codec, click here:

im not too sure, will go home and check.
maybe the files needs to be in that folder so that it gets transcoded or else it will just try to stream directly...

K-lite codec, you need download with the WORD "MEGA CODEC" for RMVB files to works 100%.
if you downloaded without K-Lite "MEGA" codec and not just normal K-Lite codec, most updated RMVB (latest compression) files are not openable.

medowance, thats is what the Real Alternative is for, so u dun have to download the MEGA CODEC which contains lot of unnecessary codec which u will never use

i just tested in my office, turns out my stupid windows firewall was the one preventing the ps3 to "see" the media server...
anyway, i tested a few diff rmvb, and all were playing smoothly... could it be ur CPU not fast enough ka?

my office pc is a core 2 duo 1.8Ghz with 2GB of ram only...
