Bro Zahang,

Gd to hear that u smoked a FD, u're really d man. thumbsup.gif

As for the PV6, u're right, if it's a turbo, then let them go, not worth wasting fuel over it. But, if it's just a V6, go for it, they'll also loose out in mid range, as i've done it, manage to stay behind a V6, n pass it at speed. biggrin.gif

N d savvy, gd to hear tat u know yur racing spots. Happy tat u know when to not race. But, seriously, Savvy, i would say dont waste yur fuel over it also. thumbsup.gif There's alot of these ppl tat wanna race wit d GT, but some just aren't worth wastin fuel over. biggrin.gif

Hope to hear more updates from u. thumbsup.gif

Dunno why ppl jealous with my GT. Many occasion other cars like Beemer, Seeweed and Cardina want to race me. I already gel with my GT and feel worth to burn my petrol against those cars but not with small fish (Perodua, savvy or Neo).

Haha...need to select parking, and then park with the wheels turned fully to the right of left(to avoid and complicate car theft, at least that is what my friend told me to do.) I am so darn careful when i open the door so as to not to hit others! I'll take the corner lot/beside pillar column, and park as far away from them, so that they can comfortably open their doors!
Hahha....baby baby...

GreyGT's review extracted from Motortrader...

Just wanted to share my personal views of the car after driving it for abt 1mth n e half.

1. Bot e car from Bangsar branch, ordered the car on the 2nd day of launch and my car was collected on the 21st of August. I think I waited less then 2 weeks for delivery if I'm not mistaken. Service at Bangsar was good and informative somewhat. When collected car had abt 40km on the odo. Door stepper on driver side was slightly scratched and interior rooftop has some dirt marks. Not exactly happy but no point really making a fuss.

2. Engine performance in the 1st wk was really weak, my last 2 cars were both B-series and H-series DOHC VTECs. Over time, it has improved quite a fair bit but still very noisy when its under load and still struggles at low revs. Added a pivot volt stabilizer with grouding kit from my old car, the throttle response improved quite a fair bit(guys, go get this.. honest). I mean the cars not faster but crispier throttle response.

The CVT was terriblly slow n noisy at low revs and at take off's(18" partly to blame). But it is very smooth when driving leisurely, paddle shifters r nice. Great to be able to downshift at emergency situations by just poppin the shifters and it goes back to auto mode when u car comes to a stand still. Cant rev the car over 6100RPM, which is really no kick compaered to the VTEC, high cam profile after 5800RPM. I start shifting up when it hits 6k tops, it takes a split second to shit but this is acceptable.

3. Interior is acceptable to me eventho the main components r plastics...U get what u pay for. The all black theme with red backlights is pretty neat looking, pretty executive as well. The nappa leather seats and lumbar support is as good as the 3 series if not better. Front seating position is good and comfy, I'm a 6 footer with a huge frame. Headroom is also good for most of the times unless u got 6 ppls cramped up in your car.(if u do consistently then do get a 7 seater)

4. Handling is top notch, it handles better than a honda with aftermarket suspension(i.e. tanabe's, tein's, etc) The chasis is rock solid and swats when cornering hard. The car height is less than appealing to me, patiently waiting for a lowering kit. Probably dun need an adj suspension as it wld be an overkill for the power of e car. So just the ori shocks with lowering spring like eibach wld be sufficient given the rigidity of e chasis. Hopefully it does not bottom up with this combo.

Ride quality is pretty good despite the chasis rigidity n stiff suspension, the comfort level is pretty good. Cabin noise is definately a demerit point for e lancer, sound proofing is pratically non existent. If u check under e back section, the exos heat shield is really flimsy and prob doesnt do a good job. The boot is most often very hot if u touch that area after driving the car.

5. Braking power is pretty impressive but the abs kick in abit too soon for me liking. But after getting used to it, its fine. Aftermarket brakepad like Project miu, endless, ebc wld be great upgrades in this department but stock works pretty fine too.

6. Build quality is not exactly JDM, my last 2 honda's were CBU JDM's so I've a pretty good comparison baseline. Gaps are visible in the interior n exterior, the boot carpets are not holstered down by clips, clanking metal noise at the back when goin thru uneven roads.

7. After sales service at EON SC is not up to mark, leaves alot to desire. I've changed my RIMs so when i commented that my aligment was out the branch manager said eh... u changed RIM, helloooo.. change RIM only affect balancing and not alignment. Then he said the 1st service does not cover alignment... what is this I told him, its covered under warranty. I can drive-in anytime I want to get things checked or to do warranty claims, it does not need to co-incide with service schedule. Again no ownership they think its just service and do nothing else, unlike Honda they take full ownership of things. DRB seems more interested in selling the car then to take complaints and improve on after sales services. In this dep, HONDA get 1001 kudo's.

In summary, buy the car if you like the points that i've mentioned. If your key buying criteria's are what I've highlighted as negatives then e LANCER is not the car for you.

The CVT was terriblly slow n noisy at low revs and at take off's(18" partly to blame). But it is very smooth when driving leisurely, paddle shifters r nice. 3. Interior is acceptable to me eventho the main components r plastics...U get what u pay for. The all black theme with red backlights is pretty neat looking, pretty executive as well. Bro, the eibach springs for the lancer is out, haven't enquired about it yet, will do later.

The other night i was wacking this windy road with paddle shifters with two friends in the car. If you know melaka, it was the road from Jusco to Bukit Beruang, Windy with tight corners. That night grip was excellent, the car really digging in to cthe corners and sling shooting out. My friends were quite impressed. The funny thing is, the next night, i took the same road, carrying speed but without paddle shifters, i was going slower than the night before but could hear the rear tyres screeching here and there, no sliding though. I'm just wondering why? I thought maybe because i was whacking hard before that the tyres were heated up so better grip, and the second night because i was taking it easy so they were cold so less grip. Both times were at 3am with similar weather but the second night it had rained about 4 hours before but road looked dry.
Any comments?

We should have nominated a spokeperson or PR in our committee member, I'll then propose 2 abolish Zahang's current role and make him our PR person - he will definitely taruk those wannabees kaukau
Zahang will be the official Club Driver of the club. Imagine during the soft launch he will be spinning his wheels round and round and round burning tyres in Aman Suria. Wah lau eh...this is what i call publicity. Hhahaha....Bro Zahang, you are still the man!

Can it be the extra weight from your two friends, which gave it a better grip? I normally more daring when i carry passengers, because i know the weight will make the car more stable. (am i right in this?)
freddie
yeah, agreed with digitalase...

the extra weight of 2 adults makes a big difference on cornering.
InfinityGT
but that will slow down your speed a lot.
alxand_mitsubishi
n higher FC also, haha but the plus point is better stability with out need to put on more weight on to car n own body,
GreyGT
Thanks Donyong for posting my review here.Just an update after taking the car up n down Genting.OMG I'm so impressed with the handling of e car, its really not funny.Hats off to e mitsu designers and engineers, this one is top notch. Now i feel like whacking every single corner, of course my conscious mind takes over n i drive sanely..ahaha.4 adults in the car, going up to G, power is acceptable not awesome. paddle shifters r a plus to push e gears thru e motion. typically the car goes up e hills effortlessly but need to maintain momentum n some speed goin in n out of e corners.it will struggle if u do not have sufficient speed but this is across all cars, unless u haf 400 ponies under e hood.but then u will have traction problem so our GT's power to weight to handling ratio's r pretty good. i think w e current set-up, it can take up to 200hp n still handle very well. Anything above 200 will be a real test.never once did e car seem to be out of control n let me tell u i was pushing e car pretty hard.i'm surprise coz my car never once under steered despite pushing it hard, meaning to say, i still have not pushed e car to its near limit let alone push it over e limit. at one point i was playing with a RX8 downhill, at e straight he will pull but at e corners e GT comes to life n i manage to catch up n pull behind him most of e corners. I think he was surprised that a GT can keep up with him at e corners. e advan tyres performed very well even after heating up, e grip was excellent n eventho it was screeching but there was no feel of losing it. so advan tyres mated w e suspension n chassis, it was just awesome sensation. now for e brakes, eventho its sufficient for spirited city driving but constant use of e brake goin downhill will cause it to overheat so brake fade is apparent after awhile in my case. But its really acceptable if you're tapping e brakes to slow down slightly. In e event tt u nd to come to a complete stop then a brake upgrade package is required. Brake fade can be due to combination of factors i.e. brake pad/disc/hose/fluid/etc but a good set of brake pads(anything up to 600 deg) shld be sufficient for majority of us GT owner. overall..... AWESOME.....now i really wonder how an EvoX will handle with SuperAllWheelDrive, cant wait to try

bwtc,r u sure e eibach kit is out, e last time i enquired its not out yet lar.normally teins will come out first but teins r dress kit(lowering springs) only.e eibach's r normally performance n lowering kits so will wait for eibach.i understand there's a eibach for EvoX but e spring rate/height n all will be different if we use it on our lancer.if u r sure eibach got then let me know, i'll go change it immediately.(thanks)

The same two guys were in the car in the same seat positions.
InfinityGT
greygt,
that was a good review. Anyway, the advan will perform even better when heated up. Wait till you try AD07. The eibach kit will perform almost the same as the stock spring except it is slightly lowered for better lower center gravity. Those western are said to fitting the eibach into their lancer already. I don't know whether we have in our store yet.

all,

Compare to my previous car, seems GT lack of power. Maybe because I drive turbo car quite long time and suddenly change to NA.
But in terms of stability and comfort this car win. The triptonic shift paddle work damn good. Thanks to INVECS III gearbox. The time delay
for changing each of the gear very minimum. Brake superb.

Zahang,

Where are you? TT session next week at Maiden Mall? can ar?

Trip to Penang and back.

Ok, let me start with my story, well, on d trip to Penang, going to Penang, my GT was a tame one, followed the speed limit at 110km/h, sometimes abit more, but theres this stretch after the terowong after ipoh, which i think i sped abit as it was downhill and that time was meddling wit d phone then my wife told me got cops with the speed gun. Haiz....think kena ady. verymad.gif

Now, on d way back, was ready to test the GT. 1st car, Mercedes Benz E280, darn this guy drives fast, came up to the back of me with right signal flashing, well, let it past and gave chase, I know i know, d merc has a bigger engine, but it's worth the chase. thumbsup.gif Well, kind of a no brainer, when there's no traffic, it'll start to pull away, even when my GT was reaching 200km/h, then when there was traffic, i stuck to his ass. Midrange pull of d GT was good, stuck to his ass, then, c him pull away. Started to pour, n d merc still ran like crazy, me, well, in d rain, i slowed down, had some bad experience with rain. rolleyes.gif

After the rain, a toyota vios with lots of stickers, lowered, came up on me ass, just as the car in front gave way, dropped a gear and stepped on d padle, he didnt stand a chance, far far away, then traffic came up, i thought of saving fuel n not to run ady, but the guy 2 gila, overtook on the emergency lane and sped off, i was stuck behind this Myvi, which took ages to give way, n i thought, it's gd also, let him run 1st, c how far he can go. devil.gif When d Myvi gave way, d guy was like kilometers in front ady, running all d way. I smiled, stepped on d pedal n gave chase, didnt take long for me to catch the guy as it was the windy road uphil towards the 'terowong' b4 ipoh. Overtook him, uphil corner, on fast lane, 4th gear, n guys, d power of d GT was marvellous. thumbsup.gif Proceeded to run, n let him c my tail lights from afar. Let off the gas when about to reach toll and the guy passed me at tol, as i got stuck in a long line. Anyways, didnt intend to run with him ady, point proven. thumbsup.gif

The third of d day, was on d fast lane as well, n saw a white car at my rear mirrors coming up fast, as there was traffic in front, just followed the traffic. Once this white car came up me ass, was apparent that it was a caldina, but without air vents on the bonet, so, didnt think much of it. The guy was so impatient of the traffic that he tried to overtake me and the cars in front by using the emergency lane, sigh, another one, but when he did it, the cars in front cleared again n i stepped on the paddle, so he didnt get to overtake me and followed my ass again when i came up to traffic. When the traffic cleared, stepped on the paddle again and left the guy behind. biggrin.gif Hit 205km/h and released the gas, yup, traffic again, then decided to stop running ady, guess the guy in d caldina thought that i was playin with him, as when he passed me, he didnt run, but when onto the left lane and drove real slowly. So, i overtook him again, n went on my way, i can c in my mirrors tat he was drivin real slow, n didnt even come out of the slow lane. Kinda lucky it wasnt d caldina wit d air vents. biggrin.gif Might have been a problem if it were, but would still try. rolleyes.gif

After tat, didnt meet any more worth wasting petrol over. Then, it was back to the KL jam. verymad.gif

The GT does have alot of potential and alot more when modded, i think. :)
freddie
so how much petrol did you pump into the car from pg back to kl? :)
shithappens
@bwtc: care to venture a guess as to how many Certificate of Appreciation u might get from that little trip to Penang and back???? biggrin.gif

the stretch after the Jelapang toll (heading north) ALWIZ has a copper or two with speed gun......most vulnerable place since its a downhill stretch......even if u free the gears on your car, u'll hit >110kph.....i've been duly and frequently appreciated at that stretch too confused.gif
zahang
i think with this kind of story.. petrol is 2nd issue hehehe..

ben... KUDOS BRO!!! hahahha.. reading yr story is pumping my adrenalin bro.. nice simple n short story then.. i know as the conclusion : no regret at all buying a GT rite? hehehe..

so pity NA cald.. sure after this that guy thinking of putting a air-vent on the hud... hehehhe.. wanna make ben thinking twice to play with his NA cald hahhaha..

vios? hmmm... out of case.. those vios are for ladies maaa..

and for cert of appreciation.. heheh.. finger crossing bro.. and pls scan n paste it here as a prove 'cruising' @ 205kmh hehehe
tantart
let me hav my say..

currently have 2 cars, satria GTi and Lancer GT...i must admit that GTi does handling better during corner n hav more speed in terms of acceleration...But the GT is not far off...is very close..but 1 thing im sure...lancer GT handles way better than civic 2.0......for me im more on attacking corner at highest speed possible than driving at top speed on highway.. :)

comfort wise the car is really good..no complaint abt it (guess is because im too used to the harshness of the GTi)..
Fuel Economy wise...1st tank rm80 V-Power...get me to 450km...coz i hardly rev over 3k rpm :P...
is the best car in C segment car (~100k) on the market now...to all the ppl who still waiting for the car, dont give up...is really worth waiting..

ps: the car hav alot executive features..like the light in the car will dimp on when u unlock the car b4 u go in...also when u take off ur key from the key slot...really impress..
InfinityGT
bwtc,
good report there. even the caldina with the scope also for me don't care lah still take the challenges. hehe

tantart,
good advise as well from you.
bwtc
Bro Freddie,

Petrol wise, not too sure as it involved some driving in KL and Penang, pumped twice, RM 105 V power and RM 94 Petronas, n I'm still driving on the petronas oil now. The GT's very fuel economical on highways, if u dont step on d pedal.

shithappens my man,

As for the Certificate of Appreciation, hahahaha......ady kinda used to it, if they dont suspend my licence, it's ok. sorcerer.gif

Bro Zahang,

Yeah, adrenalin was going sky high, especially when i chased the vios which was so far ahead and it came to the uphil and dowhill winding roads at the 'terowong' stage. laugh.gif

As for the Caldina, yeah, think he'll upgrade his ride soon. mage.gif If it was a turbo, would be rather interesting. biggrin.gif

InfinityGt,

Yeah, of coz would prefer the caldina turbo. banana.gif

Tantart,

U'll love the corners at d 'terowong', up n down also shiok la.

any diff in power comparing the v-power and petrolnas?

Bro,

Didnt notice any difference, but i think petronas is more fuel saving, coz, even after gunning it so much on d highway, i still some fuel left 2day 4 my travels to work n back, from ampang to shah alam bout 60+km through n back, think i'll refill only 2morrow. biggrin.gif
InfinityGT
thanks for the feedback. I heard Terrence is going to try v-power as well. Lets wait for his feedback as well

my 1st tank was V-Power...now 2nd tank is petronas primax...so far i didnt feel any difference too...will see hows the FC go....update u guys later..

hehehe...bwtc..i used to drive on the old route connecting the seremban and PD...that route is twisty enough wif lots of blind corners...is very challenging too...used to drive there every week when fetch my ex batch to hometown..

Latest update:

Place: Road leading to Taman Yu lek through Taman Supreme from Taman Segar (Where Leisure Mall is). If any of u know the road, well, it's kinda like an uphill downhill winding road.

Competition: Mini cooper S (Thanks guys for letting me know last night)

Outcome: Haiz....d mini stuck to my ass all the way up n down the hill through corners as well. blink.gif The Mini's darn fast la, my GT tires were screeching ady, n d guy was still stuck to me ass. confused.gif

Lesson: D mini's a darn fast car, but will still wanna have a run with it on a straight road though. devil.gif No harm trying. biggrin.gif

This is really ironic guys... since i change to 3 diamonds, i've had a few encounters w some Honda models lately.
My last 2 cars where incidently a teg dc2-b18c n akod cd6-h22a... both DOHC VTEC honda's and I've been a big fan of honda for a long time. If comparing our GT's to e B and H series honda, i think we're really no match so I've tried my luck with the following:-

1st encounter w 9th Gen Honda Civic 2.0 ivtec
Honestly speaking, the power of both car's r very similar however this is my take.
At get go, civic is perceived to lead but actually NO, we can match their acceleration.
Y we're perceived to be slower(18", cvt, heavier) but we've our advantage too.
instant acceleration on CVT coupled by close ratio 1st n 2nd gear compared to auto tranny.
There's also a technique involved which was published by another member before, that's
e secret to maintaining rev and hitting over 6k RPM to 6300 RPM...squeezing e extra juice out.
This will negate any advantage that e civic has over our GT.

Mid-range we're evenly matched, top end e GT pulls slightly.
Tried on 2 occasions on Kesas, 1 time round was carrying a fren, civic one guy.
He manage to pull 1/4 car from the speed range of 160-180km/h.
At 200 i was behind his ass, imagine e guy lift off throttle @ e bends n was slowing down.
I overtook him from e left n took it up to 215, the civic was left behind n could not keep up.
2nd occasion both also single driver, GT ahead mid range till top n, pretty strong performance.
It really only a slight advantage, however it also depends on e driver as well really.
Pit a good driver in a civic vs a so so driver on e GT, results w b e other way round.
Also our GTs handles much much better than civic, great advantage when hitting topN.

2nd encounter w Honda Jazz Vtec
Also on Kesas, this bodykitted, lowered Jazz was nicely poking me from behind.
So i yielded n let him pass n gues wat he gave me a cock stare... WTF
Was reaching e toll booth, both had smart tag.
I let him go first, we was abt 3 cars away when i started to give chase.
When hitting abt 130km/h i zoomed past him w ease n then we stopped at e same traffic light.
He started to blast his ah beng techno music w windows down n smoking while cock staring at me.
I wind down my window and blasted my michael buble cd, playing Home on my stock system... ahahaha
he was stooped.... if only i had my old car, can show him was a sound system really is...ahaha
Its not only abt db and SPL, music is abt SQL as well... nuff said

farnee coz I once used to be smoker, playing loud ah beng techno music w my sunroof open
ahhh how i reminisce e old days being younger.. growing old too fast i reckon ahahaha

Anyway I think a stock 1.8 Gti or a stock Altezza will be a good match for the GT, any encounters? just curios

this morning, from Sg Buluh toll to Glenmarie, cruising at abt 150 when passing by 'restoran jejantas i noticed a C-lass tailgated me very close. In front of me is E46 M-sport, very stubborn n won't let me pass him(i didn't tailgate him)...haiya...felt lazy to show off la, then as i hate to be tailgated, changed to 'evil mode', passing E46 at 5 gear. The C-lass chase me n E46, haha...maintained 5th gear all d way to 190+ overtaking several cars till exit Kota D'sara, then ehhh...where's that c-class n E46...ohhh very far still looking for oppurtunity to overtake left n right lane....i slowed down waiting them comes close again. But this time C-class didn't dare to tailgate again...stayed behind quite far, hmm...good at least i tought him a lesson. Then i just left him at 190 - 200km/h...thank you merc for early morning 'warming-up' my GT... biggrin.gif

forgot, last week at around 830pm, from IOI mall puchong to Cyberjaya:-
Before exit puchong perdana, in front is Lancer 9 turbo highly mod(not an EVO), that dude simply allow me to pass him even thou i didn't provoke/tailgate him...the moment we side-by-side, cruising at 130...then he 'vroooom vrooom' ...left him abt 200m, then i noticed he zig-zag thru 'not that heavy traffic' till he made a daring overtaking my GT from left so sudden... hv to apply sudden braking to allow him squeeze into my lane...hmm, this dude 'mu ajak main' la...haiya kacau la, i'm enjoying my mp3 songs pun tarak senang...then i off my radio...ok ...showtime!....felt lazy to use 'evil mode', just D enough i said. Tekan till 170, he still near by 1 car, tekan tekan tekan till toll cyberjaya....haiikk mana pegi itu Lancer...then using smarttag, then he appeared approaching non-smargtag lane..cruise slowly waiting him pass me 1st. After 200m behind him, changed to 'evil mode', tekannn...passed him from left to right at 180...he chased!...sorry la bro...6th gear already passed 200...he's nowhere to be seen!...
I think that turbo Lancer can cope with our GT's speed if on straight, but when it comes to high speed manoeuvre, can't match our GT!....GT has excellent braking, performs superbly during such incident.
Byk malas la actually to show off GT n skill, just wanna relax enjoying my MP3 collections cruising at speed limit n tak dak kacau orang...but what to do...driving GT maa...bloody head-turner n COTY somemore....got to live with it loo thumbsup.gif

GT may not handle better than Civic as their technology is more advanced, with VSA (Vehicle Stability Assist). VSA is standard throughout the Civic model range and can be switched off. Civic power to weight ratio is also much better, so better beware of Civic 2.0.
