Hi shah25 bro,

Here is the link to Adobe Flash 10.0 :) http://www.appbrain.com/app/com.adobe.flashplayer. Or you can try searching for "Flash Player" in the Android Market.

Yes, with 2.2 you are given a choice to install apps to phone or SD, BUT there are 2 things to know.

1. The app develop must enable this feature in his app to automatically select your SD card as the saving directory. If not then you need to manual do this. Here is how:
Go to MENU/SETTINGS/APPLICATIONS/MANAGE APPLICATIONS. You will see the first tab which is "Downloaded" Tap on any of the downloaded app and you can see the "Move to SD Card" button. If it is greyed out, then you cannot do so.

2. Sometimes the reason why some developers do not give you the option to save it in SD card is because a lot of apps need to be in phone memory. i.e. widgets, system apps or anything that needs to run in the background.

BUT IF you have rooted your phone, then you can save any app to your SD Card, but you will risk screwing up your phone. :)

Thanks bro. U da man.
At the moment I wish to stay stock. Takut to root my phone.

No worries bro. Anytime.

Dont worry about rooting. It isnt as scary as it sounds. Think of it as a speed de-limiter. Stock 200km/h. Root - 350km/h :)

Bro, I think Terion posted somewhere the comparison between IP4, Desire and Galaxy S. I tried searching for it here tak jumpa la pulak. You try google it and see. The winner is yours truly biggrin.gif

I did asked the shop where I bought the desire. They said Galaxy S is not selling as good. But then again, it's a phone. Borne to have imperfections.

But.... Desire is cool bro. thumbsup.gif

After a quick read from the beginning of tis thread, I just noticed that Terrence had already upgrade his Android to 2.2. So Ter, no need to answer my Q.

Actually from the looks of it. Android is the way to go right now. For such a new OS, within less than 2 years, it has brought so many improvements and features through its many OS versions.

Last month, there was a report stating that Android has surpassed iPhone sales worldwide as well. Although the Android does not have as many apps as the iPhone, but it looks like its getting there.

Best things i like about the Android OS is that it integrates super seamlessly with everything with Google which i use on a daily basis. All of my contacts, calendar, etc are all stored on the cloud. My phone has zero database. The other thing i like is awesome about Android is that its the only phone OS that supports Flash.

Now about phone manufacturers, there are so many there. IMHO, i will still go with HTC over anything else because the tech support from HTC or developers is incredible. Got a problem? Need a new firmware? Need a tweak? Need anything? go to xda-developers forum.

Now the Samsung Galaxy S on the other hand, well.. sigh... although the specs and features out of the box is brilliant, but when something doesn't work the way its supposed to or if a bug is found, then good luck waiting for Samsung to respond to it.

Other manufacturers such as LG, Motorola, Sony Ericsson and others, well.. their mistake is to release rather decent hardware but with very old OS firmwares (1.5, 1.6) Problem is, these manufacturers cannot even confirm that all of their devices will support the latest Android OS.
In comparison, imagine running an Intel i5 or i7 notebook, but only running on Windows XP, because your notebook manufacturer says it hasnt released a "stable" version of Windows 7 for your model. Frustrating.

So, if you want to get an Android right now, no harm giving the latest HTC models a try. (But avoid WildFire model at all costs). If you can wait a little while, then look out for the HTC Desire HD which will launch by year end.

Here's a little Trivia for those of us who are new to Android.

Did you know that Android OS versions are named after desserts and in alphabetical order?
Here is the list (V 1.1 didnt have a name)

1.5 (Cupcake)
1.6 (Donut)
2.0/2.1 (Eclair)
2.2 (Froyo) - (frozen-yogurt) (Latest)
3.0 (Gingerbread) - (To be released in December 2010)
3.X (Honeycomb) - (Just announced last week, to be released in 2011)

I think 'Ice-Cream' could be after Honeycomb. :)

Great mid entry phone the Aria is, but please note the screen resolution. Its only HVGA. This screen resolution is not industry standard, hence many programs won't display properly.

The IP4 hype is so great it makes the Desire discussion turned gloomy. This is to boost it up a lil' bit. To those who are waiting for the desire HD, I found this discussion online on the HTC Desire Forum:

HD or no HD?
« on: September 28, 2010, 10:46:02 PM » Quote

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've been following the posts on this forum and feel that I should be part of this community since I'm going to get my Desire soon. I've been contemplating on jumping on board the android bandwagon and the Desire ticks the correct boxes for me. Now with the arrival of Desire HD, the question is; Should I spend my hard earned cash to buy the Desire or patiently wait for the DHD?

There are a few issues here:
1. Will I be able to get all the upgrades and improvements in DHD for the Desire?

2. Minus the screen size, which screen is better?

3. Future update... can the Desire it go beyond Froyo?

Help me decide or just humor me.

Humor you? Ok.

A guy walks into a bar, and ...

In all seriousness, the "old" Desire will most likely still get updates as it'll still be one of the most powerful smartphones even after the HD hits the stores. HTC is already talking about expanding the HD's online functionality to the old model.

It's your money, so your choice really. We know the Desire's common faults, but the HD will probably have it's own issues to discover. Then again, you might regret buying the old one because the HD will always have the better camera and most likely have a bigger battery and such.

EDIT : apparently the HD has a smaller battery (1230mAh as opposed to the 1400mAh unit found in the old model). Then again, it might be more energy-efficient. Then again, it uses the same CPU as the old phone, and whenever the CPU kicks in it drains the battery pretty quickly. Still, 1230mAh should get you through the day once it's been calibrated and such.

I'll let you decide for yourself:

HTC Desire HD vs HTC Desire (according to the official website):
1. More ROM (1.5GB vs 512MB), but the point is almost moot since any custom ROM supports A2SD+, but internal memory is definitely faster, but a Class-6 card renders the argument invalid too.
2. Bigger screen. A very valid argument here, but controversial. But PPI is going to suffer since the resolution stays the same. The Desire's (estimated) PPI is 252, while the Desire HD will clock in at 217. Compare this to a 326 PPI from an iPhone 4. This means you have a bigger screen in terms of size, but the picture grain suffers. But, of course, I am all for a bigger screen size. Just keep in mind the display might not look as gorgeous...
3. More RAM. This, IMO, is totally unimportant. Android manages RAM and multi-tasking in a different way from Windows, so the benefit of more RAM is completely arguable. Go figure for 192MB of RAM...
4. 8MP camera. Well... the truth is, a Nokia N92 nearly beat my SE K850i in a camera shoot-out (both were 5MP cam-phones). The difference was that the Nokia had a Carl Zeiss lense, and the SE comes with the Sony Cyber-shot program. So... what I'm saying is that a good camera needs good software and a good lense. Sadly, HTC has incorporated neither. 8MP will definitely be better than 5mp but it is kinda hard to notice the difference on the Desire's screen (and also on most desktop computers). Also HD has 2 LED flashes... For what, I have no idea.
5. Smaller battery. This one is a killer for me. 1230mAH on the HD vs 1400mAH on the vanilla. As we all know, the Desire has a killer battery life. Also, HTC ramped up the estimated talk-time, but I don't buy a smartphone for just talking... It is possible, however, that due to a processor update, the power consumption will be lowered, but I'm not hoping for anything...
6. Possibly better processor. The Snapdragon has gone through updates, and Engadget has speculated that the newer Snapdragon in the Desire HD might be more optimized for 3D gaming and power consumption.
7. Sensor buttons vs Physical buttons.

That's about it from me... But if I were you, I'd wait for the Desire HD to come out before buying anything. The prices will drop, and you might like the extra real-estate in the HD. I was kinda p*ssed when the HD came out, but after going through the specs-sheet, I realize that it wasn't too impressive and calmed the heck down

Maverick, do you use NDrive a lot? I'm now trying to download the V10 but the file is huge - 231Mb. Takes ages to download. I'm trying to find a crack version map la.

Or do you have any other suggestion for navigation GPS apps?
Maverick
Shahbro : You can actually use Papago for Android. Its the best so far (since Garmin XT is not supported for Android). Papago got no crack, have to pay RM100++ for lifetime license, but the trial ware is for 2 weeks. Only problem is, Papago total download file size is around 600++ MB. I got mine at Digital Mall PJ from one of those handphone shops.

You can actually get the apk file from Android market, but the map u have to purchase it.

shah25
Cool Mave. Since Papago file size is even bigger, i will get ny hands dirty with NDrive first. Will consider Papago if my Ndrive fails. Actually the Ndrive V10 (crack) was recommended to me by this dude in htcdesireforum.com by the nick of sakai4eva. A malaysian (hence the nick) and I think he's one of the mods there too. Quite knowledgeable chap I must say.

Thanks again bro.

Pity it cannot pronounce the street names like Garmin A10 or G60 phone biggrin.gif

I managed to download the crack NDrive. It's serving its purpose ok as of now. But not as user friendly as Garmin or Mapking.
Maverick
how detail are the maps for NDrive? Who develops them?
shah25
Not that detail but good enuf for navigation. I compare that with Garmin and Mapking only. I don't know about Papago. never seen/used it before. It is developed by a portuguese company.

Bro skumaran24, I'm assuming you'll be getting one of those when Maxis starts selling them? biggrin.gif thumbsup.gif

Go bro go. The desire HD has bigger internal memory. You don't have to delete the unused apps all the time like the current Desire, unless you root your phone of course.

Maverick/Terion, do you guys sync your Desire to your PC? If yes, what version of HTC Sync do you use? I'm currently using the V2+. Tried using V3+ but I just couldn't sync the phone. Don't know what's wrong. I asked the HTC customer support and they told me that the latest version is not compatible with Desire yet. Funny...because the HTC website clearly says Desire can also use the latest version. Even the dude in htcdesireforum.com says he syncs his phone using the V3+... confused.gif

I read in some forums that the V2 is more stable than the V3. I used to use V2 last time and didnt bother upgrading. But now i dont use any software to sync. I just use Google sync to do everything. Basically my phone has zero contacts, calendars, notes. Everything is on Google.

Looks pretty slick! But im just too used to HTC sense Home screen. Can't live with Android's native UI.

Anyone checked out the Samsung Galaxy Tab yet? I tried it at Maxis a few days ago... quite laggish and not as responsive as i expected it to be.
