That one should be the SIS set.
terion
ya maxis is ori SIS set
Maverick
Terion: Your set is a AP or SIS set? I wanted to wait for the official update, but then i read that the unrooted version came with HBOOT 0.92. So i got the rooted Froyo with HBOOT 0.80. instead

One of the best feature i like on Froyo is the 720p recording feature :)
terion
mine AP set, non rooted and running on froyo 2.2 now

the HBOOT what the difference between 0.92 and 0.80?

shah25
Ter, mind telling me where did you buy your set? I tried calling the normal shop I bought HTC in LY but they didn't pick up the phone.
terion
i got mine from low yat forum...

The latest HBOOT (0.92) on the official Froyo prevents the phone from being rooted. Thats why many users waited for the official froyo ROM to be patched with an older HBOOT (0.80). So far the 0.92 version has yet to be cracked. So, if anyone has no intention to root, then having 0.92 isnt an issue.

You installed Appbrain? Awesome app :)
terion
icic..

dun plan to root my phone anytime so im ok..lol

thks for the info..

Wahhh Ter very long list. Thank you thank you. Still in learning mode. even to answer phone also I accidentally pressed end call. hehe. d*mn sensitive la the screen. Mine is the ori one la. so can upgrade or not?

Bro skumaran24, best phone I've had thus far biggrin.gif thumbsup.gif

Now I only need to upgrade my data plan. Maxis data plan for 1.5GB is RM78 monthly. As for Digi, unlimited data plan is ONLY RM68 monthly. Another poison. I have been a loyal customer of Maxis since late 90s. Should I change or should I not? Should I change or should I not? Hmmmmmm..... Any suggestions? Coverage wise? Customer service? etc etc.

Edit: just posted and saw maverick's long list. thank you bro. I'll see it all.
terion
ori want cannot upgrade yet.. need to wait for them to release the update here...

maverick even longer lol...
Maverick
LOL.. yes mine is very long :P

Ori one can update, but need to root your phone. But if you dont want to risk anything, then i suggest you can wait till sometime next month for the official update to appear on your phone via OTA (Over-the-air)

Yeah I guess I shall wait till next month for the official launch.
Maverick
I feel that the battery performance of 2.2 is better. Even the RAM management feels solid. 2.1 used to lag sometimes and i had to use the task killer to free up memory. But with 2.2 i hardly need to do that.
shah25
Guys, can desire set mp3 as ringtone? sorry noobster in the house. biggrin.gif
terion
sure bro very easy..

start the music app.. choose the song u want, click on menu, then select set as ringtone...

it even allows u to trim the ring tone to the length and part that u want...

The stock app comes standard with the HTC Desire
skumaran24
This phone is quite tempting, planning to get it but should I wait for HTC Desire HD?

Its called Stocks. You just need to set the refresh rate as high as possible to get a so called "Real-time" report.

HTC Wildfire...any feedback on this phone?
Maverick
The WildFire is a budget phone, but with all the features of a high end phone. Its got all the features that you need like WiFi, HSDPA, GPS, etc.

Only gripes about this phone is the screen resolution. It is extremely bad. (U need to see to believe how bad it is) And its processor which is quite low. (Cant remember)
shah25
Ter, have you update your Desire to 2.2? I did it yesterday. Took me quite long as my wifi at home slow.
Maverick
one of the best things about 2.2 is that it support Flash. But you gotta download the flash prog first.

Maverick, which program is it? Is it the adobe flash thingy?

A few more Qs:

With 2.2 I think we can choose to save the apps either in the phone or SD Card. How to do that? is it during the download process?

Can the already downloaded apps (which are saved in the phone) be transferred to SD Card subsequently? if yes, how?

Thanks bro.

Hi shah25 bro,

Here is the link to Adobe Flash 10.0 :) http://www.appbrain.com/app/com.adobe.flashplayer. Or you can try searching for "Flash Player" in the Android Market.

Yes, with 2.2 you are given a choice to install apps to phone or SD, BUT there are 2 things to know.

1. The app develop must enable this feature in his app to automatically select your SD card as the saving directory. If not then you need to manual do this. Here is how:
Go to MENU/SETTINGS/APPLICATIONS/MANAGE APPLICATIONS. You will see the first tab which is "Downloaded" Tap on any of the downloaded app and you can see the "Move to SD Card" button. If it is greyed out, then you cannot do so.

2. Sometimes the reason why some developers do not give you the option to save it in SD card is because a lot of apps need to be in phone memory. i.e. widgets, system apps or anything that needs to run in the background.

BUT IF you have rooted your phone, then you can save any app to your SD Card, but you will risk screwing up your phone. :)
