i thought they were going to bring in the ST?

Reviews of this car commonly mention the gearbox and engine are very well matched, even for spirited driving it's recommended to leave it in auto mode.

And the Focus is consistently best all rounder, even Top Gear likes it.

i drove the peugeot version of this PSA engine in a 308 HDi manual but i believe in the lowest tune coz it was a rental car, and because of that car i'm totally in love with diesels.

the torque in that was really sweet, and in this focus with 6 speeds.....Drool-Wooow.gif

yeah and why not, 200km/h can be reached for sure cars when on highways even a 1.6 can do that. But torque, oh baby torque is something you don't get tired of, the pull is very satisfying, esp when overtaking or city driving.

although more expensive than LGT, but still no paddle shift.. make me still loving my LGT.. mauahhh

and the gear console very the 80s fashion....ops sorry for focus lover...
poknik
if diesel better not lah..our diesel is now up to standard.

early torque is nice! but too bad usually for diesel its ends too early...just like your are about to orgasm then suddenly gone... happy.gif
poknik
agreed...the beemer 530D also awesome, torque almost 500nm but very fast out of breath...
onslaught
hehehehe...timing is important...massive torque good for overtaking and short sprint...which is more relevent on city driving...but for me i love the diesel part as it is cheap and roadtax cost abt the same as petrol...and one full tank can give me abt 1K KM mileage which is good for long distance traveller...lalalala

i'm really interested in this...maybe place a booking end of this month...let see how it goes from here...got any ford focus forum/club in malaysia ke? hehehehe

Agreed the interior is quite dated looking but the dual zone automatic digital a/c helps a bit

I've read a few reviews of this car, and they all say the same thing, daily drive leave it in 'D', sporty drive also leave it in 'D'. The manual shifting might actually not be useful because in low gears with all that torque it hits the rev limiter, one even said to leave in 'D' until higher gears then only go to manual.

I' ve driven this new gen diesels before and it never seemed to run out of breath, imagine doing 120km/h in top gear at 2000rpms only and you floor the pedal, it actually pulls like it was in 1st gear, before you know it you're way way above the speed limit. If the gearbox is good you'll never seem to run out of power. You can actually leave it in 5th from start to end on the highway, even if down to 60km/h in 5th it'll still pull like no tomorrow

at 1.80 and super mileage, the running costs are reduced massively.

yeah me too really tempted to book, plus small things like Ipod integration, telescopic steering adjustment.

i like the statement "pull like no tomorrow" hahahahaha...

What about our diesel?

i think shouldn't be a problem because the engine is at full tune, same specs as overseas versions, Plus the TDCi engines are not new they have been running them in the ranger and i haven't heard anyone complaining about problems with the diesel, and the same for all other pickups.

and if anything there is still warranty to cover it.

Bro, you must know, when I said that statement, I was comparing a diff league of engine. Try a petrol turbocharge engine with a torgue range that gives you 380Nm from 1800rpm all the way to 5500rpm... when pull side by side you will see the huge different. I driven both and I know.

ok but anyways it's still loads better than any NA petrol engine, running out of breath to me is like a 3 cyclinder engine, past 80km/h and there is nothing more you can do, downshift and redline it but there is no more pull.

a petrol turbo definately has a flatter torque curve, it's just a matter of getting used to the curve.
onslaught
the key is how to adapt to diesel TC engine...of course it is not the same as petrol...i saw wat TCD in a 320 beemer can offer and tasted the diesel smoke before...thus, i won't mind to get one...of course if money not an issue i get the beemer...but now ford offering good deal...so i opt for the american car engineered by german...bang for the buck...lalalalala

i think no need he review also the verdict is clear, with 320NM and 6 speed dual clutch it cannot be disappointing, the Focus also has been known and recognized as the best handling in it's class

actually our philippine friend Nautilus posted a comprehensive mag review comparing FD1, altis 1.8, Mazda 3 sports 2.0, FF TDCi and Lancer GT. Obviously the track time winner is Lancer GT thanks to the "Fantastic Sports Machine" - sports tuned suspension.

Hi Ons,

Test drive already???

Personally, I think the interior is a bit outdated.
Lancer's interior is better.
But the 320Nm torque is very "delicious" biggrin.gif

Compared to Lancer ... YES .... but

Some people prefer looks
Some people prefer performance

The interior design is old but the materials used esp. the soft touch dahsboard is a lot better than hard plastic.

yes, blazer I agree the design is not so exciting but dash material is nice.

does anyone find the mk2 seats a bit on the smallish side? not sure if current mk2.5 seats are same size...

you have some point there. But, the moment you tasted Turbocharge petrol engine you will never go back to diesel. I would say the biggest selling point is the fuel economy. Which is far better than petrol.
