I am going to buy a unit of Sony Playstation 2 for my kids...( maybe for me too )

I'm choosing this because, from what I heard;
- easier/cheaper to find games (CD)
- much more cheaper than PS3, XBOX 360 etc...
- don't want PSP coz only one person can play...

so, could you guys please help me here...
-where is the best place to buy...?
-what is the best price offered now...?
-what are the accessories to ask for...?
-how to differentiate local controller and ori controller...?
-how many free games given...?
-fan...stand...anymore...?

bro dark...east coast mall at kuantan also got a very good deal...and easier to find games there...hehehe...would suggest you to take the FAT version...since the SLIM version got overheat problem for long hours playing...they provide add on fan for the unit..but it is not enough...just my 2 cent...me used the FAT version with messiah chip for 6 years without problem...only problem was the PS2 controller got broken...due to excessive force used by me frens when i whacked them at PES or winning eleven...hehehehe...if you buy original controller it would last longer...clone controller would not last like the ori one...

i play ps2 on my pc with pcsx2 emulator with iso files. but you need graphic card and 2g ram.

me PS2...can play DVD,PS1 game,PS2 game...without any problem with the lens...lucky me...got it at Sg. wang plaza last time...missing the PS2 though...since me PS3 was in kemaman...only got chance to play during weekend...to pun limited...pasal kena jaga anak...huhuhuhuhu...

last time i look around...RM400 with 2 controller and a memory card...i think one ori one clone...if both ori price a bit higher...and free games should be around 20 games...

but i dunno la whether that one new unit or recond one...hard to know...unless they show you the software wat version installed...

what may also make a difference is what your kids friends play.... can exchange games, etc.
also the type of games you want to play makes a difference to console to consider. choose the games - then the console.

ps2 has a great library of games to choose from but little bit dated now....

for casual family fun, a Wii is quite good too...

I have PS2 and its fun but nowadays newer games not release anymore for PS2 so like el said, it's a little bit outdated but you are not gamers kaki so i dont think u care much, more fun if u add some budget for Xbox, more strategy games, shooting2 and etc, kids love it, u may too..

In the future only after u start thinking about pixel, 3D and HDMI, then u can go for PS3.

my recommend mgs2 and 3, dirge of Cerberus (ff7 shooting game) splinter cell, ace combat (if you love to fly jet fighter and shoot some enemies down) also if you stuck when you playing the game plenty walk though on the net just search it on google. and if kaki bola try get winning eleven.

dark, get a Xbox360 instead. ps2 is meant to classic games tester for now.

however, u need at least a HD ready TV for xbox360. if u using nornmal CRT TV, u wont get to view even the wordings on xbox360 games.

so if u want PS2 still, its a great set to buy at currwnt price. but make sure u buy ori controller only. ori one should be heavier than the clone. also the playstation 2 and dual shock 2 wordings should be in dark blue color. memory card, i recommend to buy 1 ori and 1 clone. u wouldnt want to play RPG till last chapter then saved game failed to read later.

if u have at least HD ready tv + budget allow, go for Xbox360. the 'ahem' games are available everywhere at rm5-6 only.

good choice..go for PS2 eventho outdated but the durability for the PS2 fat one better than slim. slim so many problem. mayb u can get recon one at 'Cash Converter'..try to check there...in Kelana Jaya or Ampang. mayb also can get in lelong.com.

I bought my PS2 around RM600 with console, 2 controllers (1 ori, 1 imitation, don't know which is which) and 20 games... @ AEON Bukit Tinggi, Klang...

My PS2 is 10 years old.
Bought for RM1200 that time wt one controller only.
But still OK & can be played until today. It's reliable coz not broken or get any service.
Currently, lend to my brother in law.

Better buy Xbox360 or PS3. U can play new game & use it in next 5 years. Value for money.

actually, i dun really want them to have all kind of games ni...ps2 ke..xbox ke.. tapi, kesian plak bila pegi rumah kawan/sedara yang ada, berebut-rebut nak main... time raya lagilah susah, bila pegi rumah yg ada games ni, mulalah taknak balik.... hopefully bila dah ada kat rumah sendiri, they all ni taklah jakun sangat....

Xbox 360 usually around RM1100-1400 depend on arcade, pro or elite type & where it made from.
Yg bestnya game2 Xbox murah, lebih krg mcm PS2 (paham2 la kenapa)

Xbox graphic normally slightly better than PS3 (if that game capacity equal. Eg 4.7GB each). If it use larger capacity memory such as Final Fantasy XIII (more than 20GB), PS3 will gain advantage, PS3 graphic is much better than Xbox coz it's use blue ray although both console usually can play same game.
