The Volkswagen Golf 1.4l comes with the award-winning TSI (Turbo Stratified Injection) engine delivery of 160hp and the impressive seven-speed direct shift gearbox DSG.

The TSI engine from VW is the first engine in history to combine turbocharging, supercharging and direct fuel injection.

The combination of compressor and turbocharging provides a basis for combining driving pleasure and low fuel consumption – all achieved with a relatively small engine capacity of 1.4 litres – and without compromising on performance and driving pleasure. It will go from 0 to 100 in just 8 seconds and top out at 220kph.

The price? RM 148k

If I'm not mistaken, this one is assembled in Pekan.You'll love the DSG transmission. Very agile and responsive.

Volkswagen-DRB-Hicom local assembly project. There has been lots of guessing and counter guessing in our previous post revealing the deal, but we now know that there will be THREE models assembled at DRB’s Pekan plant. Bernama also quotes Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak as saying that the CKD VWs will roll out by the end of the first quarter next year (Q1, 2011).“I’ve always been monitoring the developments involving DRB-Hicom and during my recent vacation, I took the opportunity to meet the Volkswagen officials and ask them whether they were till keen to establish cooperation with DRB-Hicom,” Najib told DRB-Hicom management and staff at a Ramadan gathering over the weekend.“Actually, they were waiting for the indication from me whether they could sign the agreement with DRB-Hicom or not,” added our PM, who is also Member of Parliament for Pekan.Najib revealed that Volkswagen requested for incentives from the Government to make its Malaysian operations the export base for the ASEAN region. “This needs to be studied and approved by the government,” he said.

I think the first batches of 1.4L Golf and Scirorocco will be completely CBU and that price point, it is a very very good buy. Even at RM148k for a CKD would be a good buy in my humble opinion....only about 15k more than a CKD Civic 2.0

it won the International Engine of the Year 2009......

i have no doubt in VW TSI engine...it was the best in it class...

this puny little engine cranking 160hp already.. u go stage 1 upgrade with APR map will add another 40hp.. its a huge leap bro..best bang for buck.. im not saying APR the best map.. there are plenty around to choose..

think of maintenance? vw giving 5 years warranty with unlimited mileage..

do ur homework and decide.. u never regret..

is it worth extra 10k for the light and sound package?

went to see VW last weekend...

some info to share:
- apparently the models slated for local assembly are the non golf/scirocco like touran, fox (maybe salesman want to meet quota - dont know)
- current stock for 1.4 TSI is all with light and sound package with bi xenon, foglamps, upgraded sound system think its 155k.
- only next shipment is without the light and sound package
- most colours are available still

i think budget a few k for leather, bigger rims would be nice....

which showroom? did they provide test drive car? asking on behalf of my friend...

they did have a 1.4TSI, GTI test drive unit.

easy answer.....Golf 1.4 la bro. As mentioned earlier, go for Stage 1 retune with ABT sudah dapat 200bhp. Still with warranty summore.
